Too late for the recent macro challenge, stamps, but inspired by it, I have many letters like this from my dad to my mom before they were married while he was stationed at what was then Camp Campbell, Kentucky. As you can see the postage was free because he was in the army.
I debated about posting this one again https://365project.org/grammyn/365/2017-01-19 since today is Father's Day and he was a great father as evidenced in the letter about me to my mom as she was in the hospital having my sister but in the end decided to just include it in this fresh post.
If you can, make sure your Father knows how much you love him today especially. I can't.
I wish I had told my father that I loved him - too long ago now. Our family was never very emotional and good at saying things like that! I like the idea of showing this envelope. Means more than just an envelope!
i told my father once that he was special, i got a good dressing down. after that i wouldn't give him any praise as we never got along well anyway. the only other time i ever gave him praise was back in 2004 when i was interviewing him, and i thanked him for how he treated me because it made me a strong and independent person, that at least i owe him partially. he cried and i didn't regret i made him cry because i meant what i said; it didn't change my feelings for him though that he had been a horrible father to all of us. that i told him, too.
It's so sad that many kids today will never have a letter to hold in their hands that tell them a little about their family history. I'm glad the challenge inspired you to call this one up again. Good shot!
