There was a policeman on almost every street corner and the army and tanks were very much in evidence. It is forbidden to take pictures and that was like waving a red flag in front of a bull for me.
We heard of a possible demonstration around the corner and thought we would check it out. While we were walking to the area we saw several troop transports disembarking troops. As they passed us I shot from the hip and got a couple of decent shots.
There was no demonstration around the corner and further down the street there were people drinking their coffee in outdoor cafes and gentlemen playing chess in the park apparently unaware and unconcerned about any potential unrest.
Wow, kinda scary. Fabulous capture. We walked into a Communist rally in a square in Venice one time...really got our heart to pumping. Your picture really portrays this!
Wow!! At first I thought...demonstration...Alabama?? What did I miss?? But I had a quicker recovery time this time around! :) I have to say I get a little knot just thinking about being in the middle of this!
Ominous. I've seen so many bad reports lately that a massive police presence does not make me feel safe & secure but rather just the opposite! Glad you didn't get harmed.
@eudora Actually most of the time that is how I felt! there seemed to be less of a chance of something happening because they were watching everywhere!
Very nice from the hip shot! I like that you got the mural on the wall. You know what my heart rate would have been!
Do you remember our mini-adventure trying to find that restaurant in NYC when we got off the main streets a couple of blocks and saw the cops "visiting" with that group around the car... and how quickly I wanted to get out of there? This country-girl isn't ready for these kind of adventures! I know you are braver than I am, but from reading the paper I am happy to hear you say that you might re-think it these days!
@marilyn Thanks. I did have to straighten it but was glad it turned out as well as it did. I vaguely remember that. You have been a bit sheltered I think! I am more cautious than I used to be too though!
