Green canopy

Yesterday we went to a Baby Naming Ceremony at Abbeystead Village Hall. Quite unusual but very nice with singing , promises by friends etc & something a bit special if you don't want to go down the religious route. Mum was one of my past B&B ladies who used to stay with us during the week & now her & her family have moved up here. Susie sings with a folk group so there was much of that type of music although her mum did sing about a certain age woman wearing big knickers which was very funny. This picture was taken outside the village hall & of course the land & all the house round about belongs to the Duke of Westminster ,one of the richest men in UK.!!! Everything was beautifully green after all the rain we have had.
beautiful....i wanna take a walk there...how peaceful.....

@robinwarner @karenann @shutterbugger @digitalrn @kerristephens It is beautiful country & Harry & I mean to go back soon & do some walking!
@judithg You are right Judith sometimes you get this picture in your head how a place you imagine is & when you visit it is totally different!
@sarah19 @phil_howcroft Thank you both for your comments, it was really green & I think was Lancashire at it's best! This area in Lancashire called the Ribble Valley is apparently where the Queen would like to retire to !!!
@tsingtao You are the funniest person on 365 !!! Your humour just kills me laughing !! I read this morning in the Mail on Sunday that chubby chaps should be wearing Manx.. big knickers for men !!!! keeps all the rolls of fat in place !!!

@semoor Thank you so much .. this was a quick shot on a quick visit during the celebrations but the country side was so beautiful in that area! The estate keeps every thing in ship shape condition ...all hedges & fences immaculately, kept almost like a park !

All the history of where you live, blows my mind Pat - you so casually mention that the Duke of Westminster owns all this land! Makes me smile. This is such a typical English country photo - just exactly what I imagine. Just gorgeous.

@murnane This is his country estate where the family come in the shooting season ! There are lots of home reared pheasants around in the fields & the whole area of estate & the grouse moors around with thousands of acres is very beautiful. The Village hall where we were is a credit to the village beautifully built with stone mullion windows, I think no matter what you think generally about the English inheritance system & class structure nobody would say in Abbeystead that they don't love living there & the Duke is very good to all around ! The Queen regularly comes to stay too !!

Great Angles and lines Pat.

Another beautiful English rural scene. I didn't realise the Duke of W. had land in Lancs. A man of good taste!
