Low lie the fields of Athenry,
Where once we saw the small free birds fly,
Our love is on the wing ,
We have dreams & songs to sing,
It's so lonely round the fields of Athenry.
This street in Blackpool always resounds to the above song by Martin Branaghan. The record stall on the left belts out loud music all day & always by this local artist. He has a good voice & I happen to like this song very much so I always skip along from the car park at Coral Island into the town. I think the local shop keepers must be heartily sick of it but probably don't even hear it any more !
You can see a little bit of the Tower in the back ground & generally this is a typical Blackpool street.
Fab shot - I love all the pink :-) Blackpool is quite a place - my organisation has set up a few Bike Clubs there for young people and I went on the Skyride last autumn - it was really great!
@whippeteer Funnily enough Francis I almost put a photo of the hire bikes up today. I was early into Blackpool because if you leave it later you can't get parked & so all the bikes were still in their slots .! THe Sky ride is a great concept !!
@phil_howcroft Definitely OK to say 'tat' cause it is !! I don't want to give the impression all is wonderfully tasteful round here as I always photo pretty stuff..we have pour grotty stuff as much as anyone. Surprisingly though much to my amazement since we moved 7 miles from Blackpool I have developed quite a soft spot for the old town !!! What you see is what you get !!!
