Sea rescue. by happypat

Sea rescue.

I took our young visitors back to Blackpool last evening after supper & a big rescue was taking place next to the North Pier.

1 Lifeboat
2 Dinghies
3 Fire engines
2 fire support vans
3 Police vehicles
At least 100 man power
1 Ambulance.

There was a person sitting on the 3rd strut in from the promenade with their legs dangling in the water, two firemen sitting next to this person. The tide was coming higher & higher until the water was almost breaking over their shoulders.
Eventually the firemen persuaded the person to come ashore & it was only then we discovered it was a girl of about 20! She was smiling broadly as she walked past us & into the ambulance.

Quite sad really that for whatever reason she had felt the need to do that. I wouldn't like to think a daughter of mine was driven to doing something so drastic.
I dread to think how much it cost the tax payers of Blackpool !!!
great shot - and an eventual good ending by the sounds of it. Human nature - we all like a good bit of drama as long as the ending is OK!

Great shot! What a story. Isn't it a tragedy that someone so young feels so desperate for care! Hope she gets the proper support to move forward positively!

Fabulous capture. What a gut rending story though

@sparkle There were lots of people watching & our visitors were very excited to see such drama...I think it looked much more dramatic than it was !!

Plenty of shiny machinery, It must have been quite dramatic. I think to reach this point someone must be in an incredibly lonely and desperate place,,,,,,,and yes poor old taxpayers!

A great capture but a very sad story. Let's hope she gets some help.

Wow - it must have been exciting at the time - and more of an anti-climax than anything else when the girl came out grinning. Just think of all the wasted manpower! Still, a sad situation and I wish her well. You caught the sense of drama very well, Pat - in both pics.

Oh dear! Hope she hasn't been watching too many soaps.

Sounds like there was pretty much going on in her life. Hopefully if it is a mental state she gets the help she needs

Over here, the fellow that went over Niagara Falls will be facing a hefty fine for putting all the rescue personnel at grave risk.

Nice capture! Hope the girl gets help.

Such a dramatic scene and sad story. So glad that it ended well for all involved. And I hope that the young girl's family sees that she gets some professional help...otherwise next time things might not turn out so well.
