More bread. by happypat

More bread.

I am full up with Open Golf visitors so had to go to the bakery for some more bread this afternoon. Some are wanting sandwiches so a loaf soon goes when you have to slice it yourself.
Popped into the Post Office to post Max's birthday card & then back home to watch a little golf on the TV.
Long days at the moment as the golfers want their breakfast at 6.30am So have to be up by six & I am not good at going to bed early!
I hope you bought yourself a treat at the baker's - you deserve it with all those long hours! The Open Golf is rekindling old memories of when I had to walk across that golf course to school - I even caught a glimpse of Queen Mary School in the distance on TV.

I thought you'd be busy!!! Oh no breakfast at 6.30, poor you!! At least they go and then you have a longer day, at least thast what I console myself with!!!

Wow! Sounds like you should get those golfers to make you breakfast in bed. Looks like a yummy bakery though. I can almost smell fresh baked bread

@fannyb The first ones were off at 5.30am & just had cereal & fruit which I left out for them but last nights wanted full breakfast at 6.30 plus sandwiches.Quite right though they are out all day & really not any bother whereas the weekend ones will linger over their beds & breakfast as here for a 40th birthday. Think of the money Fanny & I don't let the pay up front, I like that reward at the end !!!!

My brother-in-law has gone today in the rain! I'm not really a golf fan but the radio coverage is very good and makes it exciting. I like Clare Balding. In fact she is the spitting image of one of my friends who has recently succumbed to pressure (from complete strangers) and had to admit that they are very similar - and Ms Balding is going to open an event at her son's school in September so she has the chance to meet her - we have BEGGED for a photo!! Are your guests going everyday - I suppose it's essential that you keep up with play. What happened to the amateur chap - is he out?

Great to have a full house - but ouch re getting up so early! Looks a lovely bakery.

@judithg Only a bit of spitting today so rather a nice day ( spitting rain I mean LOL ) on the whole , he will have enjoyed it.
Clare Balding is so good at everything she does, bar the gaff with the teeth that time & I really like her too. Will have to get a doubles photo Judith !!!! Guests are only here for two days each & second lot go home tomorrow , then a fortieth birthday weekend.

@happypat Ooh all go then and lots of bed changing. I did all of ours as I was the only one home for the last couple of days and my shoulder held up nicely!! Adam back now so not so tidy and there's a lot of eating going on!

@happypat PS that was a huge gaff with the teeth - so embarrassing but she was so mortified you couldn't be too cross!

It's a lovely sharp shot of the shop.

Nice to have a good bakery handy. Not envious at the early starts tho!

Love the plants! Mmmm Patisserie always sounds so decadent. Mom wanted huevos rancheros for lunch so I found a Mexican restaurant and they had a most scrumptious chocolate confusion cake for dessert. I am usually up that early...would love to help!!! Of course I fall asleep by 9:30 at night.

Totally love your capture of the bakery, Pat ... your village is beautiful. Where is this located. Near London? Must say that those hours would leave me in a daze. I'm a late night person and early mornings are just not for me. It takes me an hour (after getting out of bed) to "wake up!" You're a busy lady with that B & B. Bless your heart.

@karenann Surprise visitors tonight so interrupted my commenting...sad isn't it !!! No we aren't anywhere near London Karenann. I live in the North west of England which when you look at a map of Great Britain we are roughly half way up on the west coast near Blackpool..... north of Manchester might be easier.

Very nice photo. I knew you were in the general area of the Open, but didn't realize you were close enough to have guests staying at your B&B for the event. Hang in there.

Well you are just the busy hostess aren't you.

Nice shot. We are loving watching the golf on tv. A beautiful area.

I was up early on Saturday, and tuned in the 7:00am start of the Open. A TV Sports network (ESPN) opened the coverage with a brief history of your area of the world. I did not realize that the *industrial revolution* had such deep roots in your backyard. They featured shots of Manchester, Blackpool and Liverpool. It was very interesting and informative.

@jimmyveee Yes a big cotton & woolen spinning & weaving area here. Handy ports like Liverpool bringing in supplies & plenty of fast flowing rivers from the Pennines to turn the milling wheels. All sadly gone now & the old mills have been done up into fancy apartments but the northern spirit is still here & a friendlier place you couldn't find James.

Nice capture!

What a charming bakery...love all the flower boxes and baskets! Sounds like you had a very busy Open week with so many tournament guests to attend to. Have they all left now? Since I was away for the weekend I missed Ernie's exciting victory...but I did see most of Thursday's and some of Friday's coverage. You live in a gorgeous part of the planet, Pat.
