A twelve hour power cut yesterday so no commenting I'm afraid.
Last night these portable generators arrived as they still have not found the cause of the problem.
Our neighbour couldn't get her car out through the electric gates & when it eventually came on at 11.30pm all the burglar alarms were buzzing.
We have a sort of humming noise now down our little lane but funnily enough Harry thinks the lights are brighter!
It didn't affect us too much as I have my oil fired Aga to cook on & boil a kettle for tea. The worst thing was we couldn't watch the Olympics or go on the computer in the evening.
The best thing was my Kindle with it's own light!!!!
I hope they soon find the cause of the problem, we take electricity for granted, a real inconvenience when it's not there. But there are lots of alternative pastimes, which get overlooked.
Cool shot of men standing talking about the problem!!
You missed the hockey girls getting a bronze?! Shame about the men on Thursday - I'd have liked a power cut for that... I know this is an 'action shot' but it just makes me think how gorgeous your lane is again!!
@cleanfreak Funny Carole I brought the camera out to take this picture & as soon as I did the guy on the left stepped back & as I took it he put his hand up to his face! Obviously didn't want to be seen on public view, I never thought to ask first , perhaps should have done!!
@boxplayer The only thing we mussed really was watching the games but glad it wasn't today as I am looking forward to Tom Daley...I do hope he does well.
@judithg Thank you Judith & yes we do love our little lane with just the eleven houses, there is a great community spirit here. The hockey girls did well but was speaking to my daughter in law last night & they were gutted we had beaten them... women s hockey is massive over there! Sham about the mens game but awesome competition there, I expect you all felt you had played that match yourselves at the end!
@maggiemae We had surprise visitors last evening & they were welcomed with open arms maggiemae!!! You are right though just nice to be quiet & sit & it helped that it was a beautiful day to sit out in the sun.
Oh my goodness - I would've died with a 12 hour power cut yesterday....I would've had to drive to a pub with a tv and olympics! glad you've got generators in hand now, what a pain! I like this little scene - to be fair the most exciting things were hockey and the BMX'ing even though we missed out on both!
What a lovely lane and terrific candid. There is something really soothing to me having the power off as long as its not so long that I worry re the fridge and freezer food spoiling. Hooray for the kindle and camera
Great shot of the men standing around discussing the problem. We had a scheduled power-out, for "routine maintenance" a couple of Sundays ago - we unearthed the crib board and spent a happy hour or two playing cards by candlelight :)
Cool shot of men standing talking about the problem!!
