The distant Lake District mountains were covered with the first snow of the winter this morning.
I tried to get rid of the electric wires but then the pylon looked odd with out anything coming out of it & then I decided I rather liked the pylon after all.
Three good things:
1. All the washing has dried beautifully on the line today.
2. Harry has sorted his holiday stuff out without us falling out!!!!!!
3.I have just finished a really enjoyable book''The Girl You Left Behind '' by Jo Jo Moyles.
Oh I'm so jealous that you can see the mountains and now they look all Christmassy. I thought it was going to at least sleet here today, the rain (not forecast) was really cold. I'll have to try that book - dont be tempted to try 'Me Before You' unless you're ready for a good cry. It quite threw me off one day in New York. 'Last Letter from My Lover' is great though. Good news on the packing!
@judithg I have already read Me Before You ...such a tear jerker but loved it even though a very controversial subject. I absolutely loved ''Last Letter..... & yes def good news on packing, can be a very controversial subject here with stuff I think should go but doesn't!!! All is well!!!!!
I am jealous as well - I am hoping we will have a white Christmas this year. Thanks to you and Judith for book recommendations - always on lookout for good books.
@happypat I thought it was a great subject for a book & learned a lot - just not cheerful!! I recently enjoyed 'The Shoemaker's Wife' Adriana Trigiani if you're stuck for ideas. @lindaagne365
This is beautiful! What a view! From my window I can see.... corrugated roofs :) I need to get myself off exploring this country again soon... fond memories of the Lake District!
@judithg Yes I have read that one too Judith & Loved it! I am reading a book I borrowed from the library called Jumping the Queue.by Mary Wesley..seems good if a little different!!
@happypat I like her - you've read every thing Pat! What about 'The Kashmir Shawl'? I've just started it and it hasn't grabbed me yet - I'll persist though....
So glad the packing is going along smoothly!!! Love those mountains....how wonderful that you can see them from home, and they really make it feel seasonal!!!!
@judithg No I haven't read that Judith, I liked My Dear I Wanted to Tell You by Louisa Young, sounds like Mills & Boon but definitely not. & Englands Lane by Joseph Connelly is a rather different read , I enjoyed it.
Love to see the first snow on the mountains. Sounds like you have quite a book group going on here. I've just finished A Quiet belief in Angels by RJ Ellory. A compelling if uncomfortable crime novel.
@busylady Thanks Judith will check that out the great convenience of a Kindle is that you can read the reviews & buy in an instant. I am loading my Kindle up for the holidays so every recommendation is fantastic thank you,
Great view! Was very icy here this morning.............crept along the streets in the car to school and the car park there was like an ice rink!
Rain now though and I think the white stuff could be here soon!
dear lupin...........Roger Mortimer heard a lot on radio 4 but just fabulous read!
Your pylon lines look like cable car wires with the snow behind!! what an amazing sight,,,,,,wonderful
@fannyb Great reviews Fanny!! Looks good & will enjoy reading that on the lovely golden sand with the sea lapping gently on the shore, a long cool drink by my side & no cooking for 5 weeks !!!! Oh dear I am a cruel woman!!!!
Love the layers in your pic. I just finished The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton..it was very long but a great read, I had to be careful not to read before bed because I'd never put it down to turn the light out!
Oh no, I dread the snow. We get completely cut off really easily here and it makes looking after the animals so much harder.
Love all the book talk. I listen to books most of the day. At the moment I am listening to Water for Elephants, which I have only just started but am enjoying already, and last night our (extremely laid back) book group discussed Before I Go to Sleep, which most people thought was a very interesting and thought-provoking read, but some people didn't get on with.
@jantan Oh Jan I understand so well the trials of snow on a farm. Unending shovelling , de thawing water troughs etc. etc. On our other farm we had to shovel snow away from the big cubicle house doors before we could get the 150 cows out for miking....nightmare!! To make it worse we used to have B&B who loved the snow. Not read either of your books but heard of both!!! Will check out....i believe Before I Go.....is a phyco thriller, not my cup of tea!
Wow...what a view! And just look at the snow! Won't be long till you are leaving the cold and snow behind ~ and it sounds like all is going quite well with the packing. I'm taking notes on all of the book suggestions listed in your comment thread. Always looking for good read recommendations. :)
Rain now though and I think the white stuff could be here soon!
