Replacing the telephone posts & lines along the lane this morning.
Very warm today & I had a friend here from NZ, someone I got to know when she stayed for B&B.
We sat out in the sun & drank Pimms!
Three good things:
1. Masterchef on again tonight & I can watch in peace as Harry is bowling. We normally have two TVs but as the sitting room is being decorated we have to watch one & Harry does not like cooking programmes!!
2. A B&B coming tonight for the whole of August!! He has been before so we are used to each other.
3. I have just finished a good book called Still Alice by Lisa Genova...about a fifty year old professor at Harvard who develops Altzheimers...very moving book.
This is a great shot of the lineman at work. Perfect focus and such a lovely tree framing the photo.
How wonderful to have a guest for the entire month and especially one with whom you get along well... and your cash drawer will be happy. :)
Enjoy your cooking show in the peace and quiet!
Nicely framed through the trees. Thanks for your book recommendation. I have just downloaded it after reading your recommendation - it has good reviews so look forward to reading it.
@busylady@suesmith@jgpittenger A little frightening, I kept thinking well I can't remember that address either ( I am talking about the tests they gave Alice to check for Alzheimers ) but a very illuminating book!
Sitting in the sun with a glass of Pimm's is definitely better than being in a bucket in the sky! A long term B&B is relaxing! shall look out the book - thanks for mentioning it.
Neat shot. Did they have to replace the lines because of yesterday's fire?
Sounds like a great book. So important since so many of us are getting that age!
I have to sit through all sorts of stuff now Rachel's at home - when she's away we can gang up on Adam! The book sounds really interesting but a bit too close to home for us probably... Still haven't started my other book club books - must crack on with Kate Atkinson!
@happypat no she isn't - I'm deviating from the list! It's an odd book and I'm sort of surprised that I'm quite enjoying it. It's a sign of Kate Atkinson's skill I think.
@judithg I think you will be talking about Life after life after Life....will be interested to hear your views on it...not sure if I liked her Started Early took my dog..a bit odd but I did finish it.
