I have always loved the look of houses in the early evening with the curtains still open & their lights all aglow.
It must be a very lonely sight to see when you are homeless & living on the streets.
It rained all last night but is bright & clear this evening. Although this was taken last week these fields are still flooded.
Three good things\;
1. Lydia has been here most of the day, we sat by the fire & watched Erin Brockovich.
2. Made oat biscuits afterwards so the tin is full.
3. Call the midwife on again tonight...it's the music I love most.
I am with you on this one Pat --I love to see the cosiness of homes in the early evenings with their light on -- unfortunately I can not help but look in !! -- not really snooping -- but showing interest !! Nice capture --but not too keen on the puddles of water -- the ground is so saturated --it can not take any more can it !!
Really lovely - is the left hand one four stories? I know what you mean about homeless people. When Nigel and I were students we went on a shoestring budget to France on the train/ferry. We stopped in London to get a connecting train but had suitcases and no spare money so we wandered the streets for quite a while and as all the houses started to turn on their lights I got homesick (hadn't even left the country!) I perked up once we got to the South of France - somehow OK to be broke there!
At first I thought this was a canal here in front of the houses and so very pretty. Flooding is not quite so pretty but good. For reflections! I have had similar thoughts to about happy scenes within lit windows and those outside on their own! I was alone once and did look in and yearn!
A lovely end of day sight...so warm and welcoming. And a nice capture of reflections in the rain water. Sounds like you had a wonderful day with Lydia.
Know what you mean. I just love the sight of English houses in early evening with the lights on. You don't get the same effect out here. windows in Australia are much larger than English ones.
