What ever the weather this postman in Garstang is in his summer uniform.
The Christmas decorations are still up today but shorts & tee shirts are the order of the day!
Three good things:
1. I am reading the latest Moorland Dynasty book by Cynthia Harrod Eagles. Number 35 it is an absolute must series for anyone who wants to read about a family from the years 1434 to the latest book which is 1931, Set in Yorkshire I would recommend them one hundred per cent.
2. As I am reading a ''proper'' book I can use the bookmark Max made me at Kindy.
3. I got home just before the hail stones.
A great capture Pat. I have noticed that there are a band of young men who seem to wear shorts all year round - our Ocado delivery came today, in bitter cold weather with pelting rain and Paul, the delivery man in shorts!!
Amazing to be wandering around in this weather in shorts and tee-shirt. The young are hardy! Thanks for your book recommendation - I was looking for something new to read and a whole family series really appeals. I have just downloaded the first one on my iPad. The reviews are very good, so hopefully I will it too.
@suesmith I hope you will love it Sue....
Ii so envy you having all those great books to start on, will keep you going for years...they are fat ones too.
They open your eyes on history & a great way to learn.
Great candid street shot Pat -- its amazing --we also have some of the hardy type of postmen around here as well -- they must keep themselves warm at the pace the walk ,and the advantage when raining they haven't got wet trousers but can just wipe down with a towel !!
Yes, I'm quite excited - there's nothing like a big fat juicy saga to get stuck in to. Mind you, I've just started reading the boss's autobiog, so need to finish that before I start anything else and I only seem to be able to get through 5-6 pages each night before I fall asleep so it may be a while! Thanks for the recommendation - I'll let you know how I get on with it.
I think that guy knows you have the camera to your eye, Pat! I hope he doesn't think you are working undercover! As for "proper" books, I don't read those unless I have to- prefer to lose myself in a good and light novel!
Oh I love reading that sort of thing - you'd probably like the book 'New York' I read - it's a history of the city from Inj'uns to present day following through various families. Our post girl was in shorts yesterday too - she walks really fast - no need to diet!
@judithg Will check that one out Judith....I have just a chapter left to read of Corrections. I enjoyed it but found it a bit wandering & heavy going in parts . Must admit I skipped some bits but got most of the story.
Great street scene. There is so much to see in this shot. My father in law lived in Lancaster for a while.
What tough posties you have in the UK. Our posties always look rugged up even in summer, they are on motorbikes though and have to cover up against the sun.
