I can't quite believe that I've had to write that title.
Our dear Tui died very suddenly on Sunday morning.
As you know we were going away for a couple of days to see my elderly uncle. We were all ready about 10am & Harry went out to shout for Tui to come in but no sign as usual.
We shouted & shouted & went down to the fields but still she didn't come. At this stage we weren't too worried as she likes her freedom and Janet who was looking after her said she would put her inside when she came back.
A couple of hours later she rang to say she had found her along side the hedge in the front garden among the white belles and she was dead.
Must have been on her way back from visiting next door when she had a massive heart attack.
We continued with our holiday as we were nearly there and my uncle was expecting us but it has not been a good few days.
The worst part was opening the door this afternoon and having no dog to greet us. Poor Lily was sitting on her own!
Janet has been amazing and buried her next to Henry all tidy and all friends together... Jenny, Henry and now Tui.
So sad for you, especially after just losing Henry too. Nothing comforts at the moment. Thinking of you. Lovely shots here to express what wonderful freedom you gave her.
Ooh ! Pat -- I am so sorry , not a good couple of months for you ! -- it's amazing how we can feel each others pain on 365 thinking of you both -- but Tui had had a good life --free as a bird but loving tender care at home - So nice to be buried next to Henry --- Take care of yourselves ! xx
Oh Pat I am so sorry to read this. I am not surprised you can't think of any good things today. That feeling of walking through the door without the doggy greeting is just the worst. Like you say tho, she couldn't have had a better life, and no long drawn out illness at the end. Hugs for you and Harry xxx
Oh no, happy Pat is Sad Pat...with no good things, that's terrible news. So sorry to hear about Tui so soon after Henry too. Bless Janet for taking care of things for you. At least she was wandering free and doing what she loved best...having had a great life. Big hugs to you Pat, and hope things start looking up soon. I might have some work up your way soon, so I'll try and arrange to pop in for a cuppa or two!
Oh no. So sorry to hear. How sad. Another 4 legged angel :-(... its so hard to lose our dear pets they are part of the family but you will have those great memories forever.. xxx
@beryl you are so right Beryl.......she had a great life so we can't be sorry....good way to go too.....365 is a great comfort, thank you for your sympathies!
@jantan thank you Jan, so comforting to know everyone is there for you......feels odd with only Lily here...we have had so many animals to look after in out lifetime & now only one left & an elderly one at that......someone said break a match...deaths come in threes! ,
@kathy11 thanks Kathy & for your lovely poem....such true words...I would post it on here if I could fathom out how to do it! That's if you didn't mind!
Really sorry, Pat, to read the news about Tui. What a big shock for you especially coming so soon after Henry. Hope you are OK. I know the place must seem empty - take good care. xx
@quietpurplehaze thanks Hazel......yes it's the shock mostly as she never ailed a bit apart from the run in with the spike in her shoulder a few months ago......good way to go though!
Oh I am so, so sorry to read your news; what an awful shock for you. A quiet house after the loss of a pet is too quiet, I speak from so much experience. Hugs
Very sorry to read this Pat! Always so hard to lose such a wonderful spirit - but even harder when it's so sudden like this. It looks like she had such a wonderful life with you!
Oh Pat I am very sad to read this, I know what it is like to loose a fur baby companion so suddenly like this, we lost our dear Westie is similar circumstances ... She will be playing games with Henry... RIP Tui..
Oh SO sorry.......you have had such lovely times with Tui and particularly hard when you were away. But what a lovely friend to give such care in your absence! Go gently and thank you for sharing even if it is a sad story! xx
Oh pat I am so so sorry to hear that Tui passed away so suddenly. What a shock. I can't imagine how sad you must be feeling. The only consolation is that she died suddenly and doing what she enjoyed doing best. Thinking of you Pat and rest in peace lovely Tui
btw Pat, I'm going to post a Ruby picture later. I thought of holding it back in respect for Tui and you, but then I thought of the joy Tui brought to you and Harry and I know you won't mind me posting my Ruby. Our 365 dogs are all bessie 365 mates
@phil_howcroft oh no way feel you can't talk about Ruby...I love to see Ruby & all the other dogs on 365 Phil.....a little gang of special dogs!! As long as they all have a happy life that's all that matters! Nothing lives for ever! Thank you for your lovely words.
That is a tremendous shock - I know she was not young but she still trotted around. I'm so sad for you, Pat - first Henry and now Tui! Harry and you will be walking around with tears in your eyes. Mine too in sympathy!
Oh Pat I am so sorry. What a truly awful time you are having. I am sure Tui will be happy to be reunited with Henry though. Such a sad time for all. Take care.
I am so sorry to hear about your dog's passing. It is so hard to lose a pet! Dogs become such a part of the family, it makes it even more difficult. Your pictures of her are beautiful!
Oh Pat! Such a shock, and a terrible empty loss. They become such a part of the family, and so soon after Henry too. Will be thinking of you in these days.xx
Oh Pat i am so sorry to read this about Tui. So sad for you and Harry. I don't know what to add to what others have already said, but am thinking of you...💜
This is such a lovely tribute and my heart goes out to you! I know that feeling of being at home and how the silence is deafening! He had a wonderful life filled with love and devotion and brought you much joy I can tell! Love to you!
My sister in law has a hill where they have all their beloved dogs. They call it "dog gone hill"...but she does have a strange sense of humor.
Yes, have to look on the positive side for Tui - both my parents had a sudden death which was great for them but what a shock for all of us.
Thank you all so much ...you are all a great comfort!
