Two fishermen chatting over the sides of the boat.
Spent Monday morning visiting a few places along the beautiful Northumberland Coast line.
Seahouses is a small fishing port where you can take trips out to the Farne Islands to see birds & seals basking on rocks.
They were doing a brisk trade as the sea was calm & it was a hot day. Lots of people with cameras & binoculars round their necks waiting for the various trips on offer.
Harry & I had a icecream but had no time to linger as we had visiting my uncle planned. Harry wouldn't have gone on a boat if you paid him anyway!
I have been very lapse with comments over the last few days but must say how touched we have been over the amazing kindness shown to us over the death of our Tui. We won't forget....thank you all!
Three good things:
1. Good friends on 365.
2. My friend called today in her car...the first time she has been well enough to drive again after two years.
3. Lily is making a big fuss of Harry & saving the day!
Oh - good old Lily. Such a shame as it is one of the most beautiful parts of the country. We have booked another trip up there. It's very very dog friendly so when you get round to getting a new dog you will have to take it up there and counteract the sad memories of this trip. Rachel would like to go on holidays with Harry - she never fails to remind me of the variety of disastrous boat trips I've booked us on to 'not see' wildlife!
Oh Pat, that is so sad. We do indeed have something in common and have probably both shed rather a lot of tears these last few days. But even sadder for you that your beloved Tui died unexpectedly. Their death leaves an awful Labrador shaped hole. Thinking of you.
@jocasta thank you Jocasta......we have indeed something in common this week.....lucky for us in some ways as Tui died unexpectedly with no illness or pain. Our last dog Jenny we had to have put to sleep as you did...a terrible decision to make because you never know when to do it! I feel for you!
@judithg Harry hates water with a vengeance but can happily spend hours power washing things!
We saw lots of friendly dogs in Northumberland Judith & I did point out that if we get another dog this one will have to be trained properly & go on a lead .....will be far better as we can take her with us when we go places. If left to me I would not have another dog simply because of the worry when we go to NZ.
Stayed at our lovely hotel the Collingwood Arms which rather let themselves down by having no wi fi & I was all set up to post while I was away with my new card reader.....didn't actually feel in the mood in the end but that was the intention.
@happypat well they are a tie - I'm having to leave Adam in charge when we go to the wedding (long story...Nigel's dad forgot!) and I'm hoping he will remember to come home after his last exam and feed him rather than go partying.... But Northumbria is a brilliant place to take them.
What a beautiful shot, it looks so peaceful. Love the title and the tiny bird flying free in the distance.
Hope you are coping after the death of your beautiful dog. Some consolation is that Tui died while walking freely in the countryside and didn't have a slow and painful end. The silence at home once they are gone though is deafening. thinking of you, take care.
Its good that they get all the binocular clad - and camera clad - people to go out - gives them a living in the season. Nice clear picture and a strong seawall there! ps... you could always get a "House Carer" for when you come to NZ. We have used them often.
