Blood Swept Lands of Sea of Red. by happypat

Blood Swept Lands of Sea of Red.

We went to see the poppies yesterday......this is one of the many photos you have probably already seen but I cant begin to tell you how very moving it is to see over 800.000 of these poppies each representing a fallen soldier of the wars.

A sight not to be forgotten.

I am sadly behind in the commenting business at the moment & will continuely be so as we have friends stayin over the weekend. Feel free not to comment on mine!

Three good things:
1. We negotiated the London Tube like properly Londoners!
2. Everyone was so friendly ....it was almost like the feeling you get at Christmas....chatting to different people who had come into London specially to see this wonderful sight.
3. We didn't lose each other in the massive crowds....not the best week to choose as its half term.
This is lovely, and I have said it many times, I must, must get there before they are removed.

@cejaanderson it's incredible Jane......they have sold every poppy& we will begin receiving them later in the year after they are washed & packed up. The poppies go the whole way round the moat of The Tower of London.

Wow that is fantastic... very poignant ... lovely in the evening glow... well done on negotiation of the Tube... I just read a book about a boy with Autism that did a trip to London by himself and had to go on the Tube sounded very scary...

Thank you for sharing. I have been to the tower many years agp and my mother lived in London during the war so these photos mean so much to me. Without 365ers sharing them, those of us in New Zealand would not know about it. So many of our men have died in wars fighting for Britain as part of the Commonwealth.

@deliad thanks Delia for those kind words ....so glad you like it......wish you could see it in person. Every poppy means a life lost wether from UK or NZ.

Great photo. I saw the poppies in August. It was one of the most moving things I have ever seen. All have the poppies have now been sold and money raised for forces charities.

@scarybird loved the way the light on the castle behind is so different Steve, takes on a complete different look at night. Funnily enough the Daily Mail has an identical photo in today's addition....I think they nicked my idea !!
