Worry beads by happypat

Worry beads

Popped into the Harris Museum today to have a go with my newly purchased lens. Only trying it out so haven't a clue what I can do with it yet. I feel that the blurry bit should be at the back so must have the aperture wrong ....all a learning curve!
It's a 45mm f1.8 prime lens for the micro four thirds system.
I have spent ages making my mind up whether to go for more of a zoom lens or this one which is good for street photos & portraits. In the end I chose this one as I thought I could be more adventurous with my shots. The other one looked very long on my camera too....this one is tiny!

Three good things:
1. Of course number one has to be a new adventure with a new lens.
2. I have started Christmas shopping.
3. Two new lamps from Laura Ashley with 30% off.
Well firstly I like the back ones being in focus but if you wanted to change to the front it's just a matter of focussing on that - don't change your aperture. Maybe you have to go back a bit? I am getting a macro/portrait lens like @jantan's for my birthday - can't wait! Though of course the light is shocking and there are no insects about!

@judithg I quite like the blurry at the front too....this was just a quick try so lots to,learn yet. I have had Jack on FaceTime just now & he showed me how to put the filter on.....so easy !

@judithg I'd agree with Judith I think would just be a case of changing focus. I'm getting used to my new lens slowly. Happy playing.

@newbank @happypat I have to say that I don't understand the physics of lenses that are good for macro and good for portraits - I will be reading up when I get my hands on the beast!

@newbank @judithg I know nothing either, we shall see how I improve!

These are really pretty beads. I don't know anything about lenses.

If I had such pretty beads, I think I would quite enjoy a good worry. Good on you for getting out there with your new gear - mine is still in its box so I can't offer advice, but I like your pov.

Great shot

I like how those two little turquoise beads really stand out and draw the eye.

I don't have interchangeable lenses so can't comment - I just enjoy the results! Are worry beads ones that are round so you can roll them around in your fingers? Better than smoking, i would say!

great POV and focus

I wish I understood more of lots of things about cameras but I've learnt loads in the last year so that's good - no need for worry beads for photography! Good luck!

My lcamera can't have different lenses so I can't help. Sorry. I like the focus on this shot.

Can't help, but think Judith's comment sounds right? Early days on a new lens. I like the look of the shot. The beads are quite lovely and like the peek of the pretty bottle.

Love this shot and fascinating to read the advice and tips so generously shared. What a lot I have to learn. ....my little camera will have to do me for a while longer though.

Hi Pat! It's Karishma from French Connection we met today! I've started it yey!

Love your focus!

Love the focus on the beads at the back. They do look rather large beads perhaps the person who they belonged to was a huge worrier. All the men in Cyprus, when we lived there, used to carry worry beads and they always struck me as being the most laid back people in the whole of the world, so they obviously worked.

I like this picture as it is Pat. I had a new lens for my birthday as well. Mine was a 55-200mm for my Nikon. It has a great zoom but is not very long or heavy. I have done a little with it but haven't posted anything yet! The trouble is the more I learn the more there is to learn!

@karishmacookie You found me...... So glad I popped in to French Connection....funny how we find other 365ers! I am going to a London meet up next Saturday in London....we do get about!!

WOW more new kit Pat, I am impressed :) . At 45mm f1.8 it will take cracking portraits , the f1.8 will be great for low light conditions. I look forward to seeing your results, especially the portraits (warn harry he might be 'sitting' for you)

@judithg your nifty fifty is good for portraits (trust me I've done 23 of them so far !!!)

Looks good, and it will be fun learning what you can do

@phil_howcroft I could do with instruction Phil ha ha ....doesn't seem to do much more than my other lens at the moment. Saying that I gphavent had time to try it out much yet

@thistle how I agree Joyce....so much to learn but where do you start? Must say the guy at Wilkinsons camera shop wasn't much help but he wasn't the sort of guy I felt I could ask so kept nodding my head as though I knew what he was saying!! Silly of me really but the lens was cheaper than Amazon where I would have got no help....will learn by practice as usual!
