A little over done with the editing but I quite like this effect now & again.
Garstang High Street on market day. The middle bit anyway.......it goes further round the corner & behind me is the other half. The whole length is lined with covered stalls every Thursday.
I had been to buy three flags for my neighbour which I buy off the carpet stall.
The HSBC bank on the left has closed today which is surprising as it always seems busy. The cash machine was blanked off ......a great pity for the town & a big let down by HSBC bank. They encourage you to do telephone banking then say it's not busy enough & close it down.
Luckily there are four more banks in Garstang to pick up the trade.
The Town Hall clock you can see in the photo plays suitable tunes for the time of the year....it's started its carol season now the Christmas decorations have gone up.
Three good things:
1. I have posted practically all my overseas parcels off today, just waiting for the last present to come & then I will have finished.
2. Pheasant for tea......I could never shoot a pheasant myself as I love to see them around the fields but we were given this one last night so I will eat it with pleasure.
3. So dark early at the moment but I love the dark nights...I know I'm very odd but love to get the curtains closed & sit by the fire.
Love it and I'm happy to close the curtains too! Today, when the mums came to pick up children from school, you could hardly make them out in the playground as it was so dark at 3.30!!
Love your street scenes -- they are always backed with wonderful knowledge of the place -it's nice of you to share with us Pat .your weather seems to be the same with us- murky and dull Love the long haired in his plus-fours, brown brogues and wool coat -- a real country gent !!
I love your street scenes too - they always look so interesting and with your explanation, they come alive! The plus four gentleman really adds interest to this shot.
The HDR processing picks up the colours beautifully! The pavements are very narrow - difficult to pass someone with a large bag! I love pulling the curtains too when its dark - makes your own world.
@maggiemae yes the pavements are narrow but the street is too....one way system a,though I remember it as two way traffic....do t know how we managed in those days! The bollards look nice but can be lethal when parking!
@happypat littlest stayed with grandparents. Sammy had hysterics and by end was in floods of tears for fear it might not have a happy ending! He and his much loved Paddington bear are falling asleep to Paddington on cd. He is a firm favourite in our house and his status has now been elevated!
@newbank oh dear a rather stressful time then...perhaps it was too close to home for him! I expect you nearly felt you had to leave......some of these films are so near the bone for very young viewers. I did think the bear looked a bit grim...,,not a very lovable face but might be ok if you saw him for the whole film.....I bet Sammys Paddington is much superior! Safe cuddled up,in bed now!
@happypat we were on the verge of leaving as he was so upset but then paddington was rescued! He was dancing to the credits and asked as soon as we left when could he see it again. He has cried at all 4 four films he has seen at the cinema. He gets so engrossed in the stories! He was showing his paddington the trailers on you tube before bed. Just hope didnt disturb people near us top much!
I love shooting street scenes but the way I get looked at in Garstang puts me off sometimes. I never see anyone else taking photos!
