Lancaster Castle by happypat

Lancaster Castle

We did a quick trip to Lancaster today to sort this mobile phone problem out....a long story!
Decided to have a walk round the Castle & popped into the cafe for a bite to eat. We were the only ones in....should have been alerted by that....the worst bowl of soup & a roll I have ever had!

Until recently this castle was a prison. Many famous trials have been heard in this Castle including the Birmingham bombers trial.

A very busy day so not doing well with the comments but will do my best! Thank you for commenting on mine.

Three good things:
1. Harry has been to have his small op late this afternoon. Four stitches & he looks a mess! Results later but hope all is well.
2. After almost one hour on the phone I finally managed to get an engineer to come out on Thursday afternoon.
3. Both B&B's want their breakfast later in the morning!
I've never visited a castle before. It's interesting to know that one might have a restaurant.

What a magnificent castle this is! Its really everyone's idea of a castle! So solid and forbidding, really! John's got to have minor surgery on several bits of him so will look a mess too - one's on his scalp!

@maggiemae oh more laughing....these poor men are going to the dogs....we should perhaps think about a more pristine model!!
The castle sits on a hill overlooking the town. I remember your mothers notes about Lancaster...pretty sure she visited here?

Oh so it's not a prison now - obviously relocated the chef to the cafe though! Poor Harry's been in the wars recently.

Looks like you got a nice bit of blue sky today. Can you go round the castle?

@busylady yes you can...in the cafe there was a person at the desk taking bookings but there was no one there! I am sure it must be busy many times but today want one of them!

@happypat You are very clever with your memory there, Pat. My mother didn't say much except for mentions of "John of Gaunt".

A very forbidding looking castle -- sounds as if the soup and roll reflects on its latter use as a prison !!

What's the matter with these men? Ant is waiting for the results of an angiogram he had done last week. Lancaster Castle is a blast from the past for me Pat. I went to school in Lancaster when we lived in Morecambe.

@thistle small world Joyce, it's just amazing the coincidences that arise on 365, you should come on a meet up......meet the other from our area! Hope results are ok for Ant.....another coincidence our youngest son Anthony gets called Ant.

Very like Raby Castle must be the way they built them, the prison in Preston looks very like a castle from memory

@ceilidh lancaster is a very nice historic town Margaret with narrow streets & individual shops. Overlooked by the castle & straggling the River Lune.
