Down the drive

When we made this new drive to our house we planted this row of copper beech trees along the side.....they turn a beautuful colour in the winter.

What I really wanted to show you was that in the distance between trees five & six all our animals are buried.
Jenny, Henry & the most recent one Tui. Our next door neighbours loved Tui & as they live for most of the year in Abu Dhabi they had no idea until they came back at Christmas that she had died.
Before they left this year they put some flowers on her grave.......you can just see them there.

I have just started reading Wolf Hall, has anyone managed to get to the end ? I am enjoying it so far but only started it this morning .....I sm still on the kindle sample so wondering whether to buy the book.

I have a problem with my iPad in that when I want to type on someone's timeline the keyboard is half way up the page & over the place I want to write.....I have tried dragging it down but no go....it works fine everywhere else which is a relief or I wouldn't be able to write all this long chat!

Three good things:
1. Free books from Tesco all about Android phones & Seniors Edition of ipad ....always good to learn! It hasn't helped with the problem above though!
2. Cathy popped in at lunchtime in between appointments for feet.
3. Our central heating oil is almost haf the price it was last year!
Very nice shot

Lovely shot and such a lovely tribute to your beloved pets. Hope you sort your ipad out, it's frustrating when things don't work as they should
January 17th, 2015
Very nice to see the larger setting of your B & B.
January 17th, 2015
Lovely shot! I like the lines and light.
January 17th, 2015
Beautiful colours here Pat, the green grass against the the copper beech
January 17th, 2015
Love the sunlight and shadows in the shot and what a good idea to bury the animals between the trees. I can tell that you are true animal lovers.
January 17th, 2015
That seems an apt resting place for Tui. I bet she would enjoy the comings and goings. How lovely green your grass is! Ours is buried under 6 inches of snow. You must have read "The Copper Beech" by Maeve Binchey...one of my favorite authors!!!
January 17th, 2015
Aww. Great to see new life springing up though. Love the colours of copper beech.
January 17th, 2015
Nice to have all your loved pets in the same place .. sounds like Jack needs to get on the job to fix Nana's ipad.. and a good thing the price of oil has come down for you... keep the home fires burning.. nice shot..

So, fuel's gone down with you too! The grass is beautifully green here and the beeches are a heavenly colour - they are quite young still! We have left a succession of pet graves where we lived and moved on. Its rather sad leaving them behind. How nice of your neighbours to put flowers there.
January 17th, 2015
i love the vibrant colors!
January 17th, 2015
I recommended it to our book group Pat. We all read all of it (that is not always the case). It was liked by all too, with varying degrees of zeal. I loved it, but I do love historical novels and my top ten would either have been written in another time, or be historical. Were the list to be 'modern' there would be some historical some psychological thrillers and maybe one sci fi. I also love books that do not have a genre as far as I know like: The Memory Keeper's Daughter, My Sister's Keeper and Skallagrigg.
January 17th, 2015
Sorry forgot to say, love the shot
January 17th, 2015
@ceilidh thanks Margaret.....that's enough recommendation for me......I have read all the books you mention except Skallagrigg......will check that one out too!
January 17th, 2015
@hinaansari thank you so much!
January 17th, 2015

January 17th, 2015
@kwind thanks Kim.....you are very kind.
January 17th, 2015
@deliad I suppose it is quite green but England's green & pleasant land & all that!
January 17th, 2015
@quietpurplehaze they are all in a square in the corner Hazel......Lily will go in there too when she passes away.
January 17th, 2015
@bpaquette Indeed I have read all Maeve Bincheys books......enjoyed every ones, you are right about Tui, she didn't miss much!
January 17th, 2015
@fueast Yes soon be spring Alison..."..the beauty about copper beech of course is they keep colour pretty much all year. Thank you.
January 17th, 2015
@julzmaioro Yes you got it in one Julz.....I need to ask Jack. We need a fire tonight sleet & hailstones & -2 deg.
January 17th, 2015
@maggiemae Yes the trees are pretty young...they do seem to be a long time growing! Grass is green but pretty much always this colour, has to be really dry to go brown! I was quite touched when I saw the flowers!
January 17th, 2015
@stepheesue thank you Stephanie.....not bad for middle of winter!
January 17th, 2015
Bep
Beautiful sunlight and shadows.
January 17th, 2015
Love the view and vibrant colours! Good luck with the ipad issue. Have you googled the problem?
January 17th, 2015

January 17th, 2015
@gijsje thank you very much & many thanks for the follow!
January 17th, 2015
@helly31 seems to have righted itself!
January 17th, 2015
Beautiful shot, looks like the perfect resting place. Love the sunlight on the trees too. Your grass is so green. Ours has almost disappeared at the moment. I water the plants in summer, but not the grass. Prefer to save our water for putting out bush fires.
January 17th, 2015
We are known for our green grass I suppose Bas funny how we take it for granted! We never water the lawn no need with our rain! Bush fires sound frightening!
January 17th, 2015
what a gorgeous capture of colours. How wonderful to have such a lovely resting place for your pets . I hope you don't mind I am attempting to do your three good things project :-)
January 17th, 2015
You copper beech trees are lovely. What nice neighbours to put flowers on Tui's grave. A nice shot of the entrance to your place.
January 18th, 2015
@onewing as above Babs....just noticed I forgot to tag it!
January 18th, 2015
@pinkpaintpot not at all Linda...it concentrates the mind.....a struggle sometimes if you have had a trying day!
January 18th, 2015
@dide thank Dianne, never really noticed the winter colour of those trees before so thought it made a reasonable photo!
January 18th, 2015
Pat we have planned our holidays for this year but are in the thinking, researching stage for 2016. We were thinking, maybe of spending some time in the NW before crossing to Ireland. I believe you're situated in Lancashire and was wondering where you are and if you know a website that would tell us what your area has to offer. Sorry to be a nuisance.
January 18th, 2015
Love the picture and your story. What a lovely idea for a resting place for your pets. Floods not serious. We quite often have this low level it's when the stile and the gate disappear under water that we get worried!! The worst bit is the everlasting mud when the water goes down.

CK
Beautiful light and colour and such a lovely story
January 18th, 2015
@ceilidh no problem Margaret......will be on the lookout ...could go to the tourist office & send you some stuff if I had your address. My mobile is 07779177754 if you want to text me it sometime. You could stay with me or we could meet up while you are up her! Lots of lovely places in Lancashire...not all mills & terraces! The Ribble Valley, Vale of Lune, the coast line too up to Siverdale etc. Lancaster, Clitheroe castle & of course we are only 40 minutes from the Lake District. I will look up some websites for you over the next week!
January 18th, 2015
A beautiful drive to your home, Pat...and wonderful landscape planning with the beech trees. Of course the reference to Jenny, Tui, and Henry touched my heart...especially sweet Henry. Such a beautiful spot for their final resting place. You've honored them well.
January 18th, 2015
I usually enjoy historical fiction, but I hated Wolf Hall. I found it far too slow, but I'm hoping the new tv adaptation will be better.
January 18th, 2015
This is quite spectacular with the contrasting colours, the shadows and light. It's a fav for me as it brings back some lovely memories.
January 18th, 2015
@busylady thank you Judith, we enjoyed meeting you & Peter so much!
January 18th, 2015
@dh interesting Delena.....I am only a chapter in at the moment but did read that the beginning was good then it tailed off. I hope I can decide before I get to the end of the sample!
January 18th, 2015
I've gone all emotional now! I bet they were looking forward to seeing Tui. I loved the first chapter of Wolf Hall and had very high hopes but like @dh I ground to a halt. I would like to have another go sometime as the stage version is supposed to be brilliant. And I'm excited about the TV version. Mark Rylance was in the Twelfth Night we went to see (at the Apollo before the roof fell down!) and he is incredible.
January 18th, 2015
@judithg good to hear your views Judith....I am hovering whether to actuall buy it.....she has quite an odd style of writing which takes a bit of getting used to..will have to decide when I resume reading later.
January 18th, 2015
A beautiful capture. I love the colour, the light and the shadows. Lovely!
January 18th, 2015
Fabulous photo. ...The light and colours are so strong. I love the copper beech colours too and the fact that they keep their old leaves until the new ones are coming through. Wonder if you can rotate your screen on iPad. I have a samsung tablet and that's how I solved the problem on it!
January 18th, 2015
lovely winter sun and colours pat
January 18th, 2015
I loved Wolf Hall, but then I'm a voracious reader and rarely give up a book. It's not your trad historical novel by any means but worth it. @judithg
January 19th, 2015
@happypat Thanks Pat, I'll send you my address via text when I can find my phone!!
January 19th, 2015
This is very lovely...and looks like spring. I love that your beloved pets are resting so near by .. in this lovely peaceful place. Great image and commentary Pat.

@boxplayer My friend has got it from the library Ayla & she likes the same type of book as me so am waiting for her verdict...she is enjoying it up to now...if she likes it I am going to buy the proper book so can look back if I need to! Thanks.
January 22nd, 2015
@busylady thank you for that Judith....am only just catching up with comments on this photo!
January 22nd, 2015
