The hypnotist by happypat

The hypnotist

On our weekend away we had a hypnotist on the Sunday afternoon.
He asked for volunteers so I dithered a bit but got dragged in by my friend who was very keen.
You can see me in the green shirt & my friend Joan on the end.
He said the only people he could not hypnotise were drunk, stupid or skeptic people!
He got us to rub our hands together until they felt sticky, then we had to lace our fingers together & try & squeeze out the glue.
He tapped us all on the shoulder & lay us on our backs on the floor.
Well I was a skeptic as it never worked for me. I lay there & thought well I feel no different. I kept peeping at the others as he sat them on chairs but when he came to get me up I told him it hadn't worked for me......he said he could tell & sent me off back to the audience.....failure!!
I was relieved although my friend did quite enjoy the experience & felt relaxed & happy afterwards.
He had them being jockeys, milking cows, playing in a band & stuff like that.
Quite an interesting thing to watch!

Three good things:
1. A mug of coffee with a neighbour.
2. I borrowed her books on NYC ....she is going a week after us so we compared notes.
3. No calorie noodles featured on Dragons Den......my neighbour gave me a sachet to try.
Well done for trying. I think I'd be a skeptic too.
February 3rd, 2015
well at least you tried, which one of the three did you come under!!
February 3rd, 2015
@padlock sceptic padlock......I hope I wasn't into the other two categories!! You might think different having met me LOL!
February 3rd, 2015
@busylady You never know how you would react I suppose Judith! Not something I would normally do but sometimes you get carried away with the moment!
February 3rd, 2015
I'm a sceptic as well Pat. I doubt if it would work for me! Great fun to watch though.
February 3rd, 2015
Well done, Pat. I think the hypnotist used those adjectives because he thought nobody would then admit to not being hypnotised. You wouldn't get me within 100 miles of a hypnotist!!!
February 3rd, 2015
You we very brave! I am afraid I would run a mile.
February 3rd, 2015
I agree with @quietpurplehaze but I would be even further away!!
February 3rd, 2015
@quietpurplehaze @jtookey150 @pinkpaintpot
Well I would have said the same & indeed did so when I first heard there was going to be a Hypnotist but it's surprising what you do when with friends on a jolly weekend!
February 3rd, 2015
Thank goodness. I would be mortified if it worked on me. Still you managed an out of body experience to take the photo :-)
February 3rd, 2015
@fueast ha ha Alison......you got me! I was glad I was too strong a woman to be controlled by a man...a cause for celebration I think !! I was rather proud!
February 3rd, 2015
Hilarious Pat, I'm like that if ever I've been to a relaxation class. I lay on my mat looking at everyone else, feeling totally unrelaxed and bored actually. I can't be doing with that imaging a happy place or an evocative smell - I'm too busy for that sort of thing!
February 3rd, 2015
I knew you'd be a skeptic! I tried it via the TV on a Paul Mackenna thing - didn't work. I hope it might work if needed it for a medical reason though. I need those noodles - are they plastic?! @lucypics would rather walk a dog no doubt!
February 3rd, 2015
@judithg the noodles are from the Bare Naked food company. They sell them online or from Morrisons. I haven't tried them yet but neighbour says they are good!
February 3rd, 2015
@lucypics @judithg Good to know I am not a pushover .....good for medical reasons though if you needed it! I am not surprised so many of us women are skeptics though, we are a strong lot these days!
February 3rd, 2015
@judithg too right!!!
February 3rd, 2015
I can hypnotise our chickens though
February 3rd, 2015
Obviously they are not stupid nor skeptic!
February 3rd, 2015
This is definitely a first for me on 365 (and probably for everyone else too!)
February 3rd, 2015
@pinkpaintpot

Nobody's messing with my mind but me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 3rd, 2015
Might try those noodles!
February 3rd, 2015
@quietpurplehaze Quite right Hazel!
February 3rd, 2015
I don't think it would work on me either... I'm not really a believer. Fun that you tried though.
February 3rd, 2015
haha! I'm glad somebody didn't get hypnotised! I would be exactly the same - no way could anyone make me feel anyway than what I wanted to feel! Not a failure though, Pat - just a strong person with a strong will. Good to see the whole photo and the room!
February 3rd, 2015
@kwind @maggiemae Quite right that all us 365ers have strong minds & won't be pushed around....glad I tried it though just to be sure! Good to hear all your thoughts!
February 3rd, 2015
PS talking of hypnosis I hope you lot will be entering the excellent theme choice this week ;0) @happypat @maggiemae @lucypics @fueast !!
February 3rd, 2015
Have only been to a hypnotist show once and as you say it was quite good fun. I wasn't as brave as you but my friend went up and fell under the spell.
February 3rd, 2015
@judithg oh you entered the competition, made the final, won and picked the theme all without me noticing sorry! Congrats but I'm not sure I'll have a good idea for that!
February 3rd, 2015
Good shot of you all, it's hard to believe that you could be made to do things by mind control.
February 3rd, 2015
@judithg

I saw that - very well done, Judith!!!!!
February 3rd, 2015
@judithg Never even saw the theme you won Judith, many congratulations! A worthy winner indeed!
February 3rd, 2015
Bep
I'm not really a believer, Pat.
February 3rd, 2015
Well done for being a sceptic. I, hopefully, would be the same. We have got "Derren Brown shows" on here at the moment and I think he is brilliant, but wouldn't fancy meeting him. Saw the show of his "The Assassin" a while ago for the second time and that is scary.
Hypnotists feed on gullible people and hopefully I am not one of those.
February 3rd, 2015
well i think i'd be a sceptic too Pat
no way would i get up on stage !
February 3rd, 2015
@gijsje @phil_howcroft Well I think I might have felt bad among all the other skeptics here if I had succomed! Thank goodness we are all of like mind!
February 3rd, 2015
@onewing Well all seven that were hypnotised seemed remarkably perky afterwards & my friend who has been quite ill & was going for a nap afterwards to rest for the long evening ahead survived until 3am with no kip in the afternoon! It certainly relaxed her & might have been a useful procedure but not for me!!
February 3rd, 2015
I'd be like you Pat!
February 3rd, 2015
@ceilidh I wasn't sure how I would react...looking back I was mad to go up!! Must have been the drink!
February 3rd, 2015
I'm afraid I'd have been in the sceptic box with you Pat.
February 4th, 2015
@happypat @quietpurplehaze in all seriousness you very brave especially with reservations. . I have heard such negative things about these people who do it for entertainment rather than medically trained . I totally understand Hazel why, and agree
February 4th, 2015
@pinkpaintpot

My bipolar brain needs constant nurturing, not exposure to 'stuff'!
February 4th, 2015
@quietpurplehaze Yes I was thinking along those lines for you :-)
February 4th, 2015
Fabulous photo and story, Pat! I'd feign skepticism under those circumstances. I prefer having complete control over my own brain...for better or worse. ☺
February 4th, 2015
Oh how fun!! And good for you for trying! I am not sure if it would work for me either, but would love to watch others. Great colors shot with great light!
February 6th, 2015
Fun. I'm like you, not a true believer in that.
February 6th, 2015
Very interesting; I don't think it would work for me either!
