An open gate is not a good sight in the countryside, either something has escaped or some lazy person has not shut the gate behind them.
The farmers friend, baler twine is well in evidence on this gate!
One tube of toothpaste, one toothbrush, one woolly hat, one Rubic cube, one bottle of aftershave & one Sophie giraffe toy are all the things left behind this week by B&Bers!!
Thank you all for commenting on yesterday's photo despite my lack of input!
Four good things:
1. For the first time I am glad we are only one of two properties down our lane not connected to Gas. The workmen altering the traffic lights a couple of mies away went through the gas pipe yesterday afternoon. There has been no gas heating or cooking for all areas within quite a large radius....we are not one of them!
2. A new pudding cooked this afternoon...Queen of Puddings, it tastes very nice!
3. A lovely thank you email from my midwife B&B who stayed last Sunday evening.
4. My lovely sisters birthday today.
Love the way you've caught the light here Pat. Such lovely colours. Do you have to send on most things your guests leave behind? Awful about the gas pipe. I hope your neighbours have their heating back now.
@thistle Only when something is more valuable Joyce. I sent back the giraffe & left a message about the Rubic Cube for an address but the others go up int the laundry room waiting to see if anyone enquires. After a while I chuck them out. I still have a summer trilby there which I have no idea who it belongs to but it's been there for years! I once had a whole suitcase left by. Guy from France, he never came back so I gave them to the charity shop after a year!
Perfect lighting in this shot, Pat. It looks like the open gate is letting the light come through. Hope nothing else escaped!
Happy birthday to your sister!
Great shot and lighting... yes No 1 rule 'you open a gate you shut it' though this one looks a little worse for wear... could of been the same paddock as my last few day's of foggy tree photo's.
Fab light Pat - but now we townies are instructed to leave gates as we find them and not diligently close open ones! You don't have to return all that do you? It's like that when Nigel's dad stays to be honest....
A good composition. I think this picture is the beginning of a story. Have you ever thought about taking up writing? The great escape! Beautiful light.
I see your camera info is not displayed as mine used to be. I have discovered if you email your photo to another computer, that detail is lost! Got it organised now. I was looking to see what time of day you took this charming photo. An open gate is not normal!
@judithg It is is pain when they forget things....my heart sinks I must say! The biggest way of leaving something behind is when you throw the duvet back & hide stuff underneath! Every time you go away now you will remember that little gem of info Judith!! You Are right about the gates of course!
@jtookey150 He he Jean.....I could never think of a story, my imagination is not that good....interesting idea though! My granny used to tell us some amazing bedtime stories when we were little.....all,out of her head!
@maggiemae My info dissapears when I edit with Snapsead maggiemae...I would much prefer it to be displayed I must say. Well I think that's the reason anyway I might just test that theory out in my second album. It was late afternoon & the sun in the west quite low.
@judithg Yes you never know what to do.....did someone else leave it open....a gate should either be open or closed not half opened like this! Nigel is a good man ....no posting on to him then!
A beautiful shot and the lighting on the twine really emphasizes that the gate was left open. Some people are so thoughtless.
How odd that somebody left a suitcase and never came back for it.
David once left a pair of his RAF boots in a hotel in Belgium when he was there on a job and it cost a fortune to get them back. He never did it again. ha ha.
@onewing It would do Babs but cheaper than buying new! Postage is a terrible price these days! It cost over two pounds to send back the giraffe & that was so light!
Happy birthday to your sister!

I always shut gates behind me :)
Nice Gate
Not too much of a problem then!!!!
