Hornby Castle by happypat

Hornby Castle

On our little walk through Hornby the dominant feature is the castle.
Hornby Castle in Lancashire is a grade 1 listed country house which was developed from a Medievel castle. Built originally in the 13th century it is now privately owned.
In the summer the gardens are opened to the public several times a year.
The River Wenning is in the foreground.

Just heard heavy snow in NY today!

Three good things:
1. I saw the eclipse of the sun through the clouds this morning & took a decentish photo considering.
2. My 365 friend @thistle sent me a DVD on New York. I watched while having my lunch & have now dropped it off for Cathy & Lydia to see before we go.....I am all in the mood now....thank you Joyce.
3. Company for supper tonight , our neighbour is wifeless today so is coming round for the evening.
What a lovely setting.

Beautiful landscape shot! Lovely sweeping green lawns down to the river. Interesting - most of the streets in Oamaru are named after English rivers but there is no Wenning Street! Hey, I was husbandless and nobody asked me round for the evening! Had to make my own fun!

@maggiemae you could have come round here maggiemae , I would have opened the wine! I haven't had any tonight as I thought it wasn't worth opening a bottle as I am going away! Been on the G&T instead!

Such a stately UK sight...just fabulous!!! I thought of you and your upcoming trip when I saw that it was snowing in NYC on the first day of Spring. Hopefully it will warm up a bit before your arrival. But I have a feeling you'll have a wonderful time no matter what the weather!
I saw your photo of the eclipse on fB. Well done!! Wanted to comment on it, but I was on my phone and rushing about. Lots of family in this weekend for a big get together.
