This picture does no favours for the actual scene I wanted to take.
We were having a meal on Thursday evening by Lake Windermere, a lovely sunny warm evening for once. This lone chap sailed by in his tiny boat which was powered by steam.
I had hoped it would show the smoke coming out of the chimney but no such luck!
I took this photo with my iPhone so it's not up to much but thought it showed off the stillness of the evening.
Another boat had a wedding party having an evening reception......they had hired a fairly large boat with caterers & a band & they sailed off across the lake.....bet they were glad the wind & rain had gone!!
The very name, Lake Windermere, sounds so romantic and even your iPhone has captured some of the magic. How lovely to see a little steam powered boat - I wonder how much wood/coal it takes to get across the lake.
@dide well it was lots nearer than it looks Dianne but I missed the closest shots. By the time I had got up from the table & run along the shore it was much further away.....going like the clappers!
