I ventured into Blackpool today, not something I do often when it's high season for holiday makers!
Not too busy & a lovely day for a stroll along the promenade. The tide was in so nobody was playing on the beach this morning.
Holiday makers strolling along the promenade & looking at the jokes on the comedy carpet.
I had to buy more water this morning....we are entering our third week of having to boil water for drinking, cooking & teeth cleaning. It was funny to see everyone's shopping trolleys with large containers of water in almost every one.....no one was grumbling about it ...I think we are just taking it in our stride now!
I walked past Harry Ramsdons fish & chip shop....made me a bit sad as the last time I was there Anthony, Jo & the boys were here & we had a brilliant afternoon with a fish & chip supper to follow.
Three good things:
1. The painters have finished.
2. The new light for the sitting room next door is very suitable & will look good.
3. Stirr fry.
Great pov and great sky. Sounds like a nice day out. Funny how little things like fish n chip shop stir a memory and make us sad .. oh the water must be a pain.
Even I'm sad about your visitors leaving - the photos were so lovely! This is a fab shot though - good job it's Lancashire and stalwart people - London would be up in arms about the water! I hope they've got those big barrels in - boiled water isn't that nice. At least adults can reverts to Elizabethan and stick to alcohol but I feel sorry for people with small children.
@judithg Yes it's quite a nuisance......I don't drink enough water but Harry drinks lots & to be honest boiled water isn't nice to drink. Lacking something somehow. I have to provide water for the b&b's of course too. At least Tnursday before we get the all clear apparently & could be longer!
You must be sitting on your bottom to take this scene across the smooth pavement which looks so good! It also looks as if it could be slippery if it got wet? Buying water must be costing quite a lot too. Some people might keep on buying water as it does taste good.
@maggiemae No just put the camera low down maggiemae....the floor doesn't feel slippy.....but not sure in the rain. I think they would have had to make sure it was safe. We are very into Health & Safety here...nobody can take any risks in their lives at all......all wrapped in cotton wool!
Great pov and such a lovely colourful scene.
I must have missed something as don't recall reading about your water problems. Hope it doesn't last much longer.
@kwiksilver we have a bug in our water supply Gillian.....the whole of the Fylde area is affected...someone said it has been a dead pheasant in the resovior but not sure if that's true or not.
fabulous point of vie Pat and nice blue Blackpool skies :) I cannot believe you are still boiling water, it must be two weeks now and I thought they said four days max !
Love your POV Pat Were you lying down to get this:-) When are they going to sort your water. It's all gone quiet on the news so we don't hear anything.
The comedy carpet is my favourite place in Blackpool and my favourite quote is "Rhyl is for people who think Blackpool is a bit la-di-da." Mainly because I once spent a terrible weekend in Rhyl. Suffice it to say that Golden Sands Caravan Park would be more correctly named Black Concrete Caravan Park.
@dh How funny Delena, I once spent a terrible day in Rhyl too. A coach trip for four of us in our youth......a dire place then but hopefully much improved now! Blackpool has a certain style in parts these days & what you see is what you get there!
I must have missed something as don't recall reading about your water problems. Hope it doesn't last much longer.
