Cathy rang me to see if I was wanted to meet her at Light Ash Cafe which is where the Queen had lunch when she visited Lancashire at the end of May. Unfortunately it was closed so we had to change plans to the garden centre instead.
Cathy cycled down on her bike.
Cathy will not be pleased I have posted this photo.....not really in a photo mode! The only photo I have taken today!
Three good things:
1. Painters are really doing well & have almost the first coat on....up on the roof for the chimneys tomorrow.
2. New tenants moved in today.
3. Last but most important Harry had the all clear from his little touch with Melanoma.....the surgeon can't see any further cancer cells. Next appointment next September!
A lovely shot Pat !! Shame the café was shut but I am sure the Garden centre café sufficed. The painters are having good weather tor the outside painting job -- so lucky !! And Pat so pleased to hear that all is well with Harry's check -up ! you can breath freely for the next 12 months now !! :-)
@beryl indeed we can Beryl.....it was praying on our minds a bit. Would have been radiation next I think so much relief all round! @julzmaioro I will take a photo of the cafe one day, we had forgotten it shut Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Not posh at all just a small farm cafe but was just up the road from Myerscough Agriculture College so very convenient for her that day. Needless to say they were shut for the rest of her subjects! It was the day I picked up Anthony, Jo & the boys from the airport.
Not everyone can say they had coffee where the Queen has dined! Maybe you can pop I when it is open, and share an image with us. Nice that Harry had good news.
I love riding on cobble or brickworks like these - nice and flat and easy to ride on! Cathy would see you taking this photo but would be resigned to this, knowing you. Your new tenants - are they the couple with the baby?
@pinkpaintpot is he funny Linda......I have seen him around but never heard him talk....I presume you mean the son & not Mr Eddie Topping himself, must be a fair age now!
@maggiemae yes the couple with the baby ......seems funny with all the lights on...sad in a way it feels like not part of our house again now but think of the money in the bank! You are right about the photo...she hasn't texted me to tell me off yet!
what a lovely carefree shot. How nice to be able to ride a bike to the coffee shop. Too many hills around my way!. Glad to hear Harry's had the all clear. A worrying time. My husband had a skin cancer cut out of his lower lip early in the year and has to have monthly checkups. It sure does prey on ones mind. Must be nice to have a baby next door.
@cruiser I Chris yes Harry's was on his chin & had to have two bouts if surgery & then chemo cream but thankfully alls well. It did affect his lip a little but there is just a faint line of scar from lip to lower chin so he is very lucky. Good they are keeping a good eye on your husbands, it's a cancer that can creep up on you without you thinking about it.
Pleased about Harry Pat. Anthony has prostate cancer and is waiting for one more test but the dreaded chemo is on the horizon. Lovely shot of your friend. I'm sure she is wise enough to know what a 365er and a camera will lead to!
@thistle Oh dear so sorry about Anthony...will be on your mind all the time. Do hope he doesn't need to go down the chemo route. Best wishes to him! Cathy is our daughter Joyce.
Thank goodness for 3. I had an early melanoma removed a few years ago and have just been for my mole map yesterday. There are some amazing drugs out there now. I met someone who had advanced melanoma years ago who was on a trial and is now clear.
@happypat mole map is where they take body shots (inyour undies, not very glamorous) and mark where your moles are. The photograph your mole using a special that also sees just under the skin. The pictures are checked by a dermatologist, then you just go every year or so for a check up and more photos of the moles looking for any changes. Expensive but worth it. No screening programme as for mammography unfortunately.
Well Cathy is showing me up - I was supposed to cycle to town for some stuff today and ended up driving to the supermarket instead! Like @deliad says some great improvements in melanoma treatment - but a bit negligent of the doctors. Nigel had a squamous cell removed a couple of years ago from his head - the GP had his scalpel out but changed his mind and sent him to the cosmetic surgeons which is a good thing. Nobody said the C word until he went back for the biopsy results which I think was poor service - he could easily have not bothered getting it sorted and the it would have been a much bigger job to sort out.
Cathy was bemoaning the fact she had to ride back up a long hill home again...so easy to hop on going downhill but after a scone & coffee you don't quite feel as energetic! It's surprising how blasé we get about moles & innocent looking brown marks...it pays to be vigilant! Nigel was lucky indeed but I expect he keeps an eye on things now!

Wonderful news about Harry.
Very nice shot and so glad that Harry got good news.
