Don't fence me in! by happypat

Don't fence me in!

Please fence me in more like it! We have been waiting ages for our builder to come & finish off our wall & blow me if he didn't turn up this morning! Helped no doubt by the fact we have a leaking roof which we wanted fixing before we go away.

The barn you see on the other side is in the process of being converted into a house so we wanted to get it up as soon as possible. Coming back Monday to finish it off but we really like it.
Could have got a better photo if that car hadn't been there but we are looking after it for a B&B guy who has gone to Spain....he left no keys!

Three good things:
1. We have had Prince Harry in St Michaels this morning. He visited the village hall which has actually been condemned, the church & the Grapes pub where so many sought refuge from the floods.
He was charming I believe though I didn't see him myself.
2. Took Cathy shopping & we discovered a great little cafe in Garstang called Vickie's Coffee & Cupcakes.
3. Heating oil the cheapest we have ever had it at 27.25p per litre. We have been known to pay over 65p in the past!
The builder has made a good job of the fence and wall, wish my builder would come back and complete the new guttering and fascia board coverings.

That's a very attractive wall. I shall look forward to seeing a picture of it when it's finished.
We too have a leaking roof! I guess the weather we've had this winter will put any roof to the test and ours has definitely failed.

@ladymagpie Good ones are so hard to get hold of aren't they Heather? Just wish when they come they would actually finish the job!

@susiemc Thanks Sue...it will look nicer when we get so thing climbing up. Roofs are a pain! Can't be as bad as the one in this photo! Ha ha!

Bep
I hope everything will be fixed before you go away.

Very smart!! You wouldn't have been ashamed if Prince Harry had dropped in :0). You could do with an extra oil tank!

Glad they showed up. Looks great.

@judithg well he did pass our road end.....yes you're right two tanks would be good!

@gijsje Yes will be all ship shape by then Bep thank you.

Looks lovely, great capture, always nice to get a job finished.

A lovely fence Pat -- having the arched top makes all the difference ! So good to have it done now before things start next door and also before you go away ! I have a fence that needs replacing one panel got dislodged in the storms and now is precariously sort of leaning against the wall !! Gary has made it safe enough to prevent Alfie getting out . I shall have to find a builser / fencer to replace it soon - my builder died 2yrs ago and I do miss him -- he was so good and friendly !

@beryl oh dear that's sad Beryl, a good builder you can trust is hard to find! Poor man, before his time too I bet!
February 5th, 2016
@bizziebeeme Yes will look better when it's finished on the top of the wall bit Laura.

There's the back of Harry again! An usual fence but looks good. Gives you privacy as that barn with the slipping tiles that I remember is so close! Car fuel prices are way down here too! Diesel is the cheapest its been!
February 5th, 2016
@maggiemae That barn next to us has its back to us I have been told by the builders so that's good to hear!

Hope you get everything fixed before you go off on your travels. Good to see Harry overseeing all the work.
I see you are going to have close neighbours too. We have got neighbours too after having an empty block of land next to our house, a new home has finally been built on the land. Almost finished and our new neighbours are about to move in.

@onewing Neighbours are so important Babs aren't they? When we moved here it was the first time we had ever lived so close to other people, we used to live in the middle of fields but on the whole we do,like being around others. It's great company & I would never want to live so isolated again. There is a happy medium though so hence the fence! Will be good seeing this old vpbarn with the roof done though. I used to have my calves in there & my word I have spent some cold draughty times in there feeding calves!

Your fence is BEAUTIFUL!

a lovely fence Pat. We have much work to be done around our place too. Our farm was draining all our money so hopefully, when its sold we will be able to do some much needed repairs.

Wonderful fence...good fences make good neighbors too
February 6th, 2016
@cruiser Ha ha Chris that's what farms do, drain money!!
February 6th, 2016
@phil_howcroft The B&B sign is to tell people to go round to the front door Phil. The back door is the nearest one they come to & although everyone uses the back door I don't want all the B&Bers traipsing through my kitchen! It will be in a better place when the wall is finished.

@essiesue Thank you Sue, we are pleased at it & when we have some clematis or such climbing up,there it will be nice I think.
February 6th, 2016
@jgpittenger Well you never said a truer word Jane, I never heard that saying before!
February 6th, 2016
I love your fence Pat it looks great and your builder is doing a really good job. I love to see eat and tidy walls and fences..
February 6th, 2016
That's a great looking fence, Pat. It certainly will help with privacy when the new neighbours move in.
February 6th, 2016
Well good luck, hope it all comes together the way you want
