Lovely family meal last night at the Farmers Arms in Great Eccleston.
Jack & Lydia came home for the weekend & I know Cathy in particular was so very glad to see them. She has missed them more lately as she has been home with her broken wrist. This photo was taken by one of the waitresses right at the end of the evening.
All the tables around us were full so it was the first chance we got to take a photo without being conspicuous! The fire in the hearth behind had been blazing away all night too. I don't like my newly done short hair but it will get more casual next time it's washed.
A lovely happy evening.
I am all packed & under weight hopefully. I haven't actually weighed the cases but am pretty well up on guessing suitcase weights after all this time!
The house is a tip so a big Hoover up tomorrow, that's the trouble with someone staying over while we are away it has to be pristine, even the cupboards!
Out again tonight over the road so lack of commenting again! Will catch up tomorrow sometime.
Three good things:
1. Even with all the things such as dragons & teddies left from last summers holiday from the New Zealanders we have room for our own stuff!
2. Plans.
3. Picking holiday books.
@julzmaioro Yes I think so Julz.....we are ready for some warmth too, it's cold here & due to get colder over the next week. Nice quite sunny day though but snow is forecast.
@happypat I came home with two for me, the one hubby started when we sat and had a hot chocolate and one for Sammy who got a special award at school. I'm reading.... Love Anthony by Lisa Genova from the library first. Its good. Have you read Still Alice or seen the film? I've not seen film.
@newbank I have heard of Still Alice but not read the book of seen the film. About Atlzimers I think? I have just finished The Other Son by Nick Alexander. Was quite good. I will look at yours later. I need a good recommendation as I haven't read a really stomping good book for ages!
@newbank just realised I have read Still Alice, I remember it now & I enjoyed it. Not a good sign when you can't remember if you have read it or not though but I put that down to age!
@happypat Well I'm about a quarter into Love Anthony and its as good as Still Alice. And now you say it I think I also couldn't put it down....certainly didn't at the end...
What a great capture of a lovely and happy family , all looking so young considering that there is three generations in the photo ! Your hair looks OK by me -- but I know what you mean ! I do not like my hair for the 1st fortnight after it has been cut !
@gijsje thanks Bep but as @beryl says it takes me a fortnight to get it into shape & grow a bit. I don't usually have as much fringe as that! Thanks Beryl, we don't scrub up badly!
@happypat we have talked about a get together for a while now, but never quite get there with people on photography trips or holidays etc. You maybe just be that extra factor that gets us all together......
Pat - you look about 25! Great to have that picture on your computer that you can show to other family! I can see that some of you didn't have pudding!
Still Alice is a wonderful book. Saw the film too but I felt it left out some important parts. I have just read The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah and couldnt put i down. Have your read any of Dinah Jefferies books. I am working my way through her list. I like your book recommendations :)
@cruiser I loved the Nightingale except for a small few chapters two thirds of the way through where I wavered a bit but a book to remember! I have heard Dinah Jefferies name but not sure if I have read any of hers, will have to see the titles..will check today before we set off! Hope you had a great time with your family...I presume they have gone home now...a sad time but you bounce back! You don't live in Melbourne do you Chis, I think not but just checking!
@happypat sadly I dont live in Melbourne although our daughter does. We are in Adelaide. Perhaps next time your are over you could include South Australia. The family arrived home safely to the cold and we have had our first Skype. Dont know what we would do without it.
@cruiser Ah well I had an inkling you weren't there, I think I asked you before! Adelaide would be good one day! Skype is brilliant if it works, sad,y Jo & Anthony's house is not good for Skype for some reason....they are working on it!
ahead of time!
