Our new hens have bonded well with the original ones & are all hanging out together reasonable well. Still a bit of bossiness from the old guys but the young ones seem to be coping.
Some of you were interested in seeing the Bluebell, well there she is on the left. The others are three brown ones two of which you can see here.
The darker one is the oldest & only lays when she feels like it.
Eight hens all together.
Three good things:
1. The first swallows hanging out on the telephone wires. Late this year!
2. Out for a chippy supper tonight.
3. I have just finished a rather odd but enjoyable book called The Rosie Project.
Beautifully captured -- you have a nice colourful brood there Pat ! -- something so nice in having chookling hens around your feet ! Is the bluebell a smaller variety !
Cute chooks .. does the 'blue' one lay green/blue eggs.. Son has one a similar colour and it lays green eggs .. so that is her name .. he also has one called ham..
Your hens look very well. Ours are a bit scruffy due to a late moult and heading into cooler season, some of them think they are due for a holiday. I enjoyed The Rosie Project.
Nice to see your hens; my husband likes them too.
# nr. 3 I read the book some time ago. It's hilarious indeed. Greame Simsion is a great author. Did you read 'The Rosie effect' too?
Nice plump chookies all clucking around together! The pecking order has been established! We had one once that the others didn't like and she got injured quite badly with them pecking her! Had to put her down! Also had a blue bantam like your Bluebell and she laid blue eggs!
When you have been laying eggs as long as she has then you would only both now and again. Must admit I like your chooks and it's a shame I haven't got a garden for them. Nicely captured.

No idea why this keeps happening...........
Lovely hens!
Neat to see the Bluebell. Very pretty bird.
