Off it comes!

So pleased to get my plaster off today!

It was weird when they used the saw, a strange sort of tickly vibrating feel & I was nervous to see the saw moving along near my leg. He did just catch my foot below my toe but didn't draw blood!

My foot & ankle are quite swollen but I am going to really do my exercises properly so I can wear my nice shoes for a wedding in June.

Three good things:
1. I can wear my skinny jeans again!
2. A proper bath!
3. Rose & Geranium soap.
I think I would have had a good dose of camera shake trying to take that picture while they were attacking you with the buzz saw! You're going to do really well and be up and dancing again in no time at all!
May 17th, 2016
wow! what an action shot. It amazes me how they can know how far to cut through. Bet you enjoyed the bath. There'll be no stopping you now
May 17th, 2016
@judithdeacon I'm surprised it came out as clear as this Judith as I was moving all the time! I am walking quite well considering but it is a bit painful at first.
May 17th, 2016
@cruiser it was slightly nerve wracking I agree & I think he rushed too as the clinc was running 100 minutes late. I had been there for an hour & a half before I saw anyone!
May 17th, 2016
Oh well it's onwards and upwards from now on Pat! I've got all this to come next week when I go in for my op which I am not looking forward to - especially the bit about not driving for 6 weeks!
May 17th, 2016
A great relief !
May 17th, 2016
Oh do I remember that experience. The doc who cut mine off actually burned my skin and when I complained of it hurting he just went ahead doing what he was doing. When I showed him the wound after it was off, he didn't say a thing
May 17th, 2016
Brilliant Pat! Off to physio then! Rose and Geranium soap sounds rather lush!
May 17th, 2016
Glad you've had it off today (Doesn't that sound naughty). Huff, I can't wear skinny jeans, nor have a bath as I've only got a shower room. Just behave yourself now.
May 17th, 2016
@jgpittenger Yes it's a very nerve wracking job isn't it Jane? They could do no end if damage with that saw! We must have to grin & bear it!
May 17th, 2016
@rosiekind Oh dear Rosie, that's not something to look forward to, I hope you're stacking up lots of photos! Good luck with it all anyway. I was surprised I have not been champing at the bit to drive my car but have been quite content to sit in the garden & read! I think your body will adapt to your circumstance & want to just stay home!
May 17th, 2016
@ladymagpie He he thanks Heather, I haven't had a bath for years but just fancied a good some this afternoon. A leg shave & plenty of moisturiser but I have a very brown knee & toes & white leg in the middle!

May 17th, 2016
@ruthmouch I bought it in NZ Ruth & was perfect for today!
May 17th, 2016
Hooray, fantastic to hear! :)
May 17th, 2016
Bet that feels wonderful now.... and you can have a good scratch, too. Lol 😁
May 17th, 2016
Happy for you Pat

Bep
Good news!
May 17th, 2016
Well done - and such good '3 good things'!!
May 17th, 2016
@alansimpson Almost Allan, it was a bit nerve wracking!
May 17th, 2016
@gijsje @quietpurplehaze Yes all good news but it looks terrible tonight, disappointing!
May 17th, 2016
@happypat

Oh, sorry - temporary camouflage - black leggings?
May 17th, 2016
Good to hear you are mobile once more!
May 17th, 2016
Wahoo that is fantastic.. but take it easy .. sit in the sun and even that tan up...
May 17th, 2016
@quietpurplehaze Yes I can cover them up in my trousers now. I have been wearing dresses a lot as my trousers are too narrow but got my jeans on tonight!!
May 17th, 2016
@alinz Yes relieved but will be a while before I can get a shoe on I think Ali! Will be lovely to feel the sheets on my leg tonight!
May 17th, 2016
I bet you're exciting about getting it off. I broke my wrist years ago (I was in grade 7). I'll never forget when they took the cast off. My arm had shrink!
May 17th, 2016
Glad to see that things are looking up!
May 17th, 2016
So pleased to see you have got the cast removed Pat.
May 17th, 2016
Nice
May 17th, 2016
So glad to see its "bye bye cast and hello leg "- it couldn't be a very nice sensation having the cast sawed off -- glad he did not draw blood !! but I am sure you are delighted to be free
May 17th, 2016
@kwind I wish my leg had shrunk Kim, it looks very large & scaly! I hope the swelling will go down soon!
May 17th, 2016
@karens54 @kimcrisp @pdulis

Thank you all & I am relieved it's off!
May 17th, 2016
@beryl Well he got close Beryl....a bit scary watching & then I just felt the tip of it once!
May 17th, 2016
@julzmaioro I had a go this afternoon Julz but not sunny enough!
May 17th, 2016
So many nice things to realise when you are free! Have never had plaster on but I can imagine. A bath would be the best, I would think!
May 18th, 2016
An exciting trip to the fracture clinic - so good to be moving ahead.
May 18th, 2016
Glad to hear the cast is off. It will take ages for the swelling to go down, hope you are able to wear your shoes for the wedding. If not you will have to wear one shoe. I've still got one ankle fatter than the other. Shoes fit ok though.
May 18th, 2016
@onewing that's what I'm worried about, does the swelling ever go down properly?
May 18th, 2016
@maggiemae It was Maggie, with lovely NZ handmade soap.
May 18th, 2016
@dide yes a step forward Dianne but slowly slowly!
May 18th, 2016
Great news and a fabulous moment captured.
May 18th, 2016
@happypat Not entirely and it took a while for mine to go down initially. Physio helped though. My left ankle still swells up slightly after I have been walking for a while, but not too bad.
May 18th, 2016
So pleased you've got your leg back Pat. Take it steady though. Frustrating but worth it. You can work on getting the white part of your leg brown. Are you having physio?
May 18th, 2016
@thistle I will be doing Joyce, they took my details so an appointment will be on its way soon I hope. Sunbathing is a good idea!
May 18th, 2016
Hooray for you - taking photos without balancing on crutches!
May 18th, 2016
So happy for you!
May 18th, 2016
Boy - it seems like yesterday when it was put on. Time flew - but probably not for you!
Great memory shot.
May 19th, 2016
Wow, you must be glad to be rid of it!
May 23rd, 2016
How did I miss this occasion on my feed? Belated congratulations on getting your plaster off - sounds like you're doing well with getting back up to normal.
May 24th, 2016
@nickspicsnz Physio this morning Nick but I'm disappointed at swelling still! Going to ask if I'm walking about too much perhaps.
May 24th, 2016
What a shot! Feet up now to get to wear those shoes!
