A day in Cambridge today & a lovely meet up with @judithg & @lucypics.
Judith took me all round her old college St John's & used her 'magic' card to get us in free & without any problem to various beautiful buildings.
She was a mine of information about the history & traditions of Cambridge University.
We had a punt ride on the Cam later & the punt chap gave us an amazing running commentary as he punted us down the river.
A very enjoyable day.
Sorry I am slacking in my comments but we have such full days I seem to have no time left to comment on yours, thank you for all your kind comments on mine.
On another point since I bought this new STD card I notice some of my photos are rather light for some reason. No idea why but I don't think it's my camera, I have never had this happen before!
Thank you Judith for taking time out of a busy day before you fly to to Vancouver to meet up.
Three good things:
1. My foot survived the walking although I had to resort to wearing my boot.
2. So lovely to meet 365 friends & for the first time lovely Lucy who was just as I imagined her to be.
3. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful city as Cambridge, full of history & priceless buildings.
David says check your exposure compensation. It should be on zero from the look of the picture it might have gone positive.
Nice shot though and how nice to catch up with 365ers.
I agree with Babs about exposure compensation. It is over-exposed, but in this case I actually like it. I find it gives the whole scene an impressionist painting look.
I especially like the ducks on the left following the gondola.
Over exposed or not -- this is a beautiful painterly effect on a wonderful calm and serene view -- Love it Pat , -- a huge fav for me -- I could view and re view this scene for ages ! Glad you had a wonderful day and the foot is bearing up !
@beryl Thank you Beryl, I rather liked it too! My camera is a bit out of sinc somehow but haven't time to mess with it at the moment! Glad you like it though.
i was going to say i like your post processing pat, but by the sounds of it you didn;t mean for this effect.
I checked your ISO exif data and ISO 200 f8 seems OK for a bright scene. I doubt it is your new memory card as that is just storing 1's and 0's !
Have you got it on some 'scene settings' that are causing the effect
@phil_howcroft not sure Phil, I think the settings are definitely out of kilter but not well up enough on my camera to find out. I am a lazy photographer I have discovered & just like to press the button! Will get it checked out when I get home. Jack will know. Thanks for your thoughts.
Its always good to mull over a photo problem and read what others say. I would agree with Babs - your EV exposure. But never mind - this is a nice bright composition and good to have a Cambridge photo in your album!
Can you tell I should be working?! Suddenly realised I hadn't dropped by before we went to Vancouver. Starting to think I might feel like 365 again in the autumn... It was great to see you both. xx
@judithg ooh I wish you would Judith I miss your lovely photos! It will be good starting up again then, it will take your mind off your empty nest. You will be rather dreading Rachel going off to Canada. It's good that my family met you as now they know who you are when they see your photos such as the lovely one of Rachel punting on FB yesterday.
