Well I was pleased with my photo entries today at Great Eccleston Show.
I entered about fifteen photos & got one second & three thirds.
You can see the entries in the enlarged photo section here & I think you will be able to pick out Lydia top line second in which got a third & little Finn with his dog Molly which came second on the row below.
There were 33 entries in this section so I was pleased with myself!
The winner is the blue vase shape near the bottom left.
I never get anywhere in the smaller 6x4 photos so I won't enter those next time!
The sharp eyed of you might recognise four more photos of mine in this section!
I have been in the Radio Lancashire tent most of the day making teas & coffee & washing up!
Three good things:
1. It's amazing how much you can learn listening to radio programmes, gardening, birds, there was a cookery demo & all broadcast live from our tent!
2. One of the things I learnt was that in the 40's, 50's & part of the sixties because of the coal fires burning, sulphur from the smoke used to drop down & put a layer of sulphur on the plants in the garden preventing blight. Once the clean air act came in rose blight returned.
3. Sunshine all day drying up the show ground.
Well done Pat! So pleased you had sunshine it makes such a difference. Hope it stays that way for tomorrow for both of us. I'm at a dog show on the Three Counties show ground and I don't want mud!
@thistle no mud puts people off from going, we find if its fine in the morning you can get them through the gates, if it's raining they do something else! Good luck with the dog show, you don't want wet dogs either! Forecast good up here!
@susiemc you I was chuffed & the best bit is standing there listening to people talk about your photos & not letting on! Much talk today of Finn & Molly!
Well done you -- so pleased you got some good results in the composition -- I did recognise Finn and the dog straight away because I had really loved that photo of the two !! Its good to have fine weather for these events -- makes all the difference to the numbers turning up and the mood of the whole day ! A big pat on the back Pat !!
Well done I knew the one of Finn and Molly would be a winner. Will have to have another look on the laptop screen to find your others as phone a bit little.0
Well done indeed Pat! I spotted the two you mentioned easily! I like the thought of listening in while others comment not knowing they are yours!! Hope the weather keeps up!
@beryl Thanks Beryl, I was pleased Finn & Mollie did so well , it's a sweet photo though I say it myself! Yes hopefully an even better day tomorrow but it was hot in the tent today! I have relagated from Horticulture to the old woman's retirement tent doing teas!
Well done, Pat! I would be so pleased to be in the top three! Makes you feel worth while! This would be a certain class - like 'people'? Not landscape or animals etc. I've got some sulphur in the garage i've had for ages for something! Maybe I'll sprinkle it on my roses!
@maggiemae It was just the enlarged photo group so any subject Maggie. There were other classes such as farming, bird study, black & white, sepia etc but I never do so well in the smaller photos. I said last year I would only enter the larger ones. I also won a third in another category which was two photos of the same picture one edited & one not. Not bad, I think I might have won about ten pounds! Yes the sulphur was an interesting point! He said it gave the leaves a layer & no blight!
Thank you all for your lovely comments! Much obliged!
Thank you all, it's quite exciting going into the tent after judging! Yes an interesting fact learnt over the teapot today Judith!
