New Years Day. by happypat

New Years Day.

Jack & Lydia came for dinner today. Their parents are in the Lake District for the weekend so it was good to have the company!

A very Happy New Year to all my 365 friends. I hope your 2017 goes with a fizz & all your hopes & plans come true!

Three good things:
1. A great party last night with all our friends.
2. The New Years Day concert from Vienna.
3. Perfect roast potatoes!
Happy times!! Looks so cosy! Good health and happy days to you all in 2017.

@julzmaioro Yes pretty much what I do Julz. Parboil then drain & shake to rough up the edges the roast in hot oven in preferably goose fat. Goose fat makes all the difference I find. Use then pour back in jar & use again until you run out!

Nice seeing that big cheery room with people you love! You have goose fat? I have been able to have potatoes done in duck fat now at some restaurants and they are not only delightfully crisp but very tasty too! I must get some except we are into new potatoes right now!

@maggiemae No need when you have lovely new potatoes maggie! I think duck fat will be pretty similar to goose fat! We buy goose fat in a jar here mostly at Christmas time.
