No flies on me! by happypat

No flies on me!

I am always fascinated by the art of fly making.
Aren't these just beautiful? Funny names too!

I saw these beauties in Anthony's favourite shop, Hunting, Shooting & Fishing.

Three good things:
1. I have been to the doctor about my swollen wrist & hand & he thinks it's a bursa. More of the tablets & if no improvement a blood test. It has definitely improved but still hurts so I'm hoping for the best.
2. Our eldest sons birthday today! Happy Birthday Brian!
3. Better weather today, the rain has moved on!
These always fascinate me too - they are so intricate. I love the way you have presented them.

They are beautiful and I too love the names. Wooly Bugger is brilliant. Chris makes flies and he has one which he named "The Jasper". We had a black lab called Jasper and he made some flies using Jasper's hair.

I had a bursa on my wrist at one time - made the wrist very weak. Someone said its just a cartilage shell with fluid in it and you can bang it to burst it! My son in law at the time said he would have a go but he just couldn't bear to bang the hammer properly so it just hurt some more. Eventually went away! I can imagine a fisherman just loving to go into a shop like this!

What an array of colour and sizes ! Do you think the fish can see in colour ?

Fly tying is an art. Love the colors and the names...hoppers, budgies, Royal Wulffs...
Marvelous shot.
Hope you start to see some big improvement in your wrist, Pat! I know that must be worrisome. 😟
And best birthday wishes to Brian!

@maggiemae oh my that sounds terrible, wouldn't like anyone to bang my fluid sac across the back if my hand! I think I'll rely on tablets! 😫

Some new names there! Thanks for good wishes on the wrist, it is a big wearing being with pain a lot of the time I must say. I pulled a muscle in my back too yesterday, I am wrecked!

Really interesting shot, they are so colourful. Hope your wrist improves soon. Do you have to wear a splint?
March 23rd, 2017
they are so pretty Pat. It would be tempting to start a collection even if you never used them. Hope your wrist settles down soon

Fly fishing is the perfect hobby for the man who gets bored easily. He can tie flies and dream about fishing during the off season, and fish the rest of the time!
