A peek into my very favourite shop in Garstang.
Called Dream it is pretty much the only place I buy any new clothes these days. I can't stand the trek into a bigger town, the clothes suit my lifestyle & I love the chat! Even Harry likes going in for a chat!
Today it was Cathy's turn to go in & try on. She is behind the curtain trying on stuff for a November wedding, successful too!
Margaret & Sue hiding from the camera!
Three good things:
1. I finished the massive blockbuster that was World Without End by Ken Follett, all 1111 pages of it!
2. A coffee & a lovely morning with daughter Cathy who leads such a busy life.
3. No electricity all day so it was so lovely when the lights came on at 4pm. I have an old oil Aga that doesn't need any electricity to work so kettle was on & I was able to cook.
Great to have a shop that has what you like.. I know what it's like to try a catch up with these daughters... Donna leads such a busy life ad well.. have to make an appointment tent with her... lucky to have hour at arga... a cuppa is one of the things you miss when the power is off...
This really makes me smile Pat -- the two shop ladies "out of camera shot " !!!!! ha ha ! Nice to have a shop that suits your needs on the doorstep . I could do with a new wardrobe if only there was a little local shop to suit my needs !! Glad to hear your electricity is back on . -- you always think of things you could do when it is off but of course most things needs electricity !
@beryl we didn't know the electricity was going off Beryl, nearly everyone else down the lane did but three houses hadn't had any notice, lucky was a quiet day for me with nothing planned! Lots of tunic style things, trousers & jackets, really smart but everything wearable every day.
@quietpurplehaze Yes really useful, lots of wearable easy clothes with smart look. Masai stuff if you've ever heard of them....mix & match & layers. @jesperani Book was great Jennifer!
I have a shop like this too and just went in a bought some new clothes. Another shop was just too trendy and young but this one - I realised I had chosen just what my 91 year old SIL would! Help! I wish I had an Aga at times!
@maggiemae Yes I do love mine but it's hopelessly inefficient, cost lots to keep going but don't know whether I could live in a house without similar. Yes I am chucking out all stuff I don't wear, I used to diwbgrade stuff fir everyday use outside but actually don't need to do that now & I could look reasonably smart all day if I so wished, Harrry still likes his workday 'uniform' on complete with wellies!
Lovely to have fav shops close at hand. I have been in a fav shop today near the pier at Armadale.......rather pricey but some of my favourite things I bought there over 10 years ago so I think that's pretty good!
Good to have alternative when power goes off!!
@farmreporter it truly was Wendy, there is a number three just been published. My friend is reading the same series & has put her name down t the library to borrow the new one. She is number 54 on the list so it's her birthday next week & I have bought her the book instead of flowers! I can read it after her! It will take a year for her to get to the topof the list with such a thick book!
Sounds like, and looks like, a wonderful shop to have close at hand! Love the wonderful scarves. And that smaller black handbag on the wall to the left looks very similar to one I recently bought and love. I'm also seeing what looks like a tan canvas hobo bag hanging on the wall near the changing area that I think I would adore. I'm starting to fall in love with Dream. :)
Glad Cathy had a successful shopping trip!
A great looking shop - love how the ladies are peeking out. Love Ken follet books - pillars of the earth is my fav book ever but I enjoyed world without end too.
@nickspicsnz mine too Nick, I did like World Without End but it was Pillars that enthralled me. I have just bought the third one fir a friends birthday so will read that when she has finished. About Elizabeth 1st time I believe!
@happypat I saw the new one in a shop the other day and was tempted but books are so expensive here. I'll have to get it on my Kindle instead - it sounds good. Might save it and read it in the summer holidays.
