Windfall by happypat

Windfall

We have lots of apple trees & although we do pick some fruit & offer them to anyone else inevitably there are some that end up on the ground.

Three good things:
1. I have been incensed by a comment on FB today & it's good to be able to answer back something I would normally be unable to do to their face ! Politely of course! I can't understand why someone who lives in a small rural community of farmer neighbours would make such a rude comment!
2. I am getting bolder in my old age!
3. Took some tulips to a neighbour who is ill.
Good for you - I am so pleased that you were able to politely comment on their rudeness. I don't know what it is about social media that makes people so mean ... but FB and the like does tend to bring out the worse in people. They will say things on FB that they do not have the courage to say in person!

Bep
I agree with Wendy.

Ditto. I love the pop you chose and how the apples get smaller and smaller in the distance. If those were here, Perl would have her tummy WAY overfull and we'd have bears!

@farmreporter Yes they do Wendy, they had the cheek to say that farmers were the only people she knew who got paid for doing nothing! Referring to single farm payment I suppose but it's not that much & you have to go through hoops to get it! She lives in a very rural area & all around her are farmer friends! A tractor ran over her grass very & squashed her daffs! Annoying I know but no call for that! Looking forward to other comments she gets! I am all steamed up!

@gijsje Thanks Bep re above!

@jgpittenger oh that would be terrible Jane, it's a good job Pearl is a long way away!

Trouble us however hard you try to give them away it doesn't always work. Most local people are already trying to give there own away as well! Glad you were brave enough to answer back Pat. Perhaps she needs to walk in a neighbouring farmer"s shoes (wellies!!) for a few days!

I think it’s just ignorance Pat. A lot of people who aren’t farmers, but live in a rural area, know that farmers get some kind of payment but they don’t know why. There was some bad feeling re those payments where we moved from. Don’t let it bother you 🙂

I wish I was nearer for the apples - but never mind , think of all the nutrition going back to the soil while they rot there !!
Sorry to hear you were disturbed by a comment on your fb account - nd glad you were able to reply without being nasty yourself -- Some people have no thought at soul when they comment ,but ignoring is easier said than done -- glad you had decorum !! ( as an old friend of mine would say !! )

@thistle @susiemc Well the single farm payment we used to get had certain ruleas attached to it such as leaving so many yards round the edge of a field when ploughing, only cutting hedges every two years , etc etc. All good rules which ensures wild life endures. I know nothing about cereal subsidies & hill farm subsidies but lots of farmers could not survive without this money. Would be much better to be paid a proper price for our produce. It might come too after Brexit! Someone just suggested she put a few big stones along her hedge!

@beryl decorum, I like that Beryl, the perfect way to respond! See above comment too. This lady has been I trouble before for her bluntness but I actually like her very much, I don't think she thinks before she says!

Sorry about the typos i am writing this on my phone in the doctors surgery. David is having a BCC cut out from just in front of his ear at the moment. I think he will need a lollipop when he gets home

I love when our apples hit the ground and the local deer, bear and raccoons come indulge. The smell is divine and I always have a ton of apples even though it has been 12 years since the tree tipped over.

I love this shot, love the detail of the apples in the foreground.

@onewing I laughed at your typos! Poor David he is in the wars - definitely lollipop time!

I thought these were potatoes at first! Goodness going back into the soil is a nice thought but not walking around barefoot here! FB comments are best not to take on board - one tends to get frustrated and angry and who needs that. I just delete the posting.

I wondered what these were from afar - I thought 'crikey Pat has really bad hailstorms up north' at first! Haven't they turned lovely colours :) The Muntjack deer have eaten all mine, I left them in a stack for them at the foot of the tree :)

Just catching up. ..this is lovely! And all the goodness not wasted ...goes back to where it came from.
As for negative comments. ..less said the better 😕

@filsie65 wow I would love the deer to come & eat mine Phil! They just sit here rotting until Harry comes along with his mower in the Spring.
