Red hot pokers by happypat

Red hot pokers

It's rather strange to go for a walk & smell the autumn in the air, walk through crunchy leaves & see leaves falling to the ground when it's almost June.
I seem to take it in my stride when we come over to NZ in our winter & we're greeted by lovely hot weather but the other way round has thrown me rather!

Thank you for all your lovely comments on my hoilday photos so far, I haven't been commenting on yours so didn't expect you to do so on mine.
Up till now in have had time to post something each day but things might change from tomorrow when I go south to see the grandsons. I have been very lazy up here but I think all that will change from tomorrow!
Looking forward to meeting up with @julzmaioro & @dide tomorrow.
This is a lovely capture! How wonderful you can be with Julia and Dianne tomorrow!

@louannwarren Yes isn't it, we do manage to meet up every year, sad to be not seeing @andreajoy this time. First time for four years I won't see her smily face.

This is gorgeous! How lovely to meet up with 365 friends! How strange that the different seasons have thrown you. At least when you return to the UK it should still be summer ( thunderstorms all night! Lol!) fav!

Lovely shot. Know what you mean about the change of seasons between hemispheres. I got used to Christmas in Summer very quickly, but even after almost 30 years here I still get caught out by Easter in Autumn.

Lovely colour for Autumn ... flowers are a bit few and far between this time of year.. looking forward to our catch up as well...

Love these .....red hot pokers? We had some in our last garden when we moved to Oldmeldrum first but I hated them and dug them all out 😄.
I think I understand the weather thing. When Laura and Iain came for Christmas in 2014 the headed back on 29th Dec for a hot 30th birthday celebration with a little group of friends. One winter is enough for anyone!

lovely composition Pat. I am finding it weird too with it being Spring for me here in the UK but I keep feeling it should be Autumn. I think its easier when its Summer and Winter. Hope the jet lag hasnt been to ferocious

Glad you're enjoying yourself. I had a shock when I first saw that - my red hot pokers aren't up yet! Then I remembered you are in NZ and it all made sense again! When we lived in Australia, it was from the end of May until early November, so we had three winters in a row. Odd, isn't it?

@casablanca Three winters is two too many in my opinion! Going further south tomorrow so colder I'm afraid!

@happypat I was of the same opinion! But at least I got to live in Australia for 6 months, so that was worth it. Visited NZ for 10 days on our way home and loved the South Island especially. Te Anau and its lake and glow worms caves was probably my favourite. Wrap up warm!

Nice to see these red hot pokers poking up into the air! Haven't seen any down here! Fine weather is going to be around Taupo for the next few days! Not as cold as down here though - 3 deg at the moment!
