A trip up to Mount Ruapehu today. We set off in lovely sunshine & drove into snow.
It was quite uncanny the sudden change of weather although earlier in the day the Desert Road was closed.
I dared to go down the slope on the sledge, getting on & off the thing was the hardest part!
They have spent lots of money in the Happy Valley area installing a lift, ski slope, tobogganing & snow boarding area as well as a cafe.
The higher ski slopes were shut as it's still very early in the skiing season & not enough snow.
That looks a huge amount of snow! What an experience. i can sympathise getting up off the sled - no slipping allowed on senior bones!
