We went to Beetham Nurseries today.
A very nice garden centre to have a potter around.
We had our lunch there & I bought some cards….the only thing I was really looking for was some oven gloves but I didn’t like the colour of any of the ones on sale so no purchase!
I bought a couple of Christmas presents though.
We also bought two trees which are being delivered. One Picau Pungens Edith blue spruce & a Betula Shiloh Splash.
These names are for any of you keen gardeners to check out if you so wish!!
After we bought them I nipped back to take a photo but they had already been moved behind the scenes so this is a very quick shot of this old camper van which is parked up near the conifers.
Not very good at remembering to take photos these days when I’m out….I must mend my ways!
Three good things:
1. Boiled eggs for tea as we had eaten big at lunchtime.
2. Watching the Chelsea Garden Show moved from May to September, it’s amazing how different it feels with a change of season.
3. Visitors bringing a large bunch of flowers.
My first thought - OMG she is going on hols now !! ha ha ! I do not think it would be your style these days would it , Pat ! ha ! Nice for the two of you having a day out at leisure -- must look up your trees !!
@beryl No not my style at all Beryl. Not even keen on a caravan….at my time of life I like to come down to a proper cooked breakfast when on my holidays!
I love the old camper van, although it looks like it might have sold ice- cream! Good luck with the trees, I've never heard of them. I'm hoping to buy an Amelanchir tree for our church gardens. No I hadn't heard of it either, but I'm told it looks good in all seasons and doesn't grow too big.
I love the variegated leaves and the white bark of the Shiloh Splash birch! What a beauty that will be! Wonderful choice of trees, Pat! Forget the oven mitts - you got some winners with your trees!
@peggysirk Thanks Peggy…..Harry loves the bark peeling in silver birch’s…..they were his choices. He has no interest in the plants & flowers in a garden but loves trees.
