Help yourself! by happypat

Help yourself!

This very large bucket of chestnuts or conkers as we call them was sitting on the low wall two doors down from us.
Help yourself it said….I did but only a photo!

We have lots of chestnut trees all along the back of us to the left….the squirrels can’t keep up!

Three good things:
1. Jack came & moved some photos out of a big tin trunk up into the loft.
2. The trunk has now been utilised for bird seed!
3. My favourite TV night!
Oh my! Well I’m sure the squirrels will hide a lot of these for their winter time meals.

Last year in lockdown I made some chestnut puree - it really was nice, but a lot of work to make ...

I could do with a few of those to keep the spiders at bay

Wow....I might have taken a handful! Spiders don't like them and if you have a few in a corner of the room they seem to keep clear!

I wonder if kids still play conkers these days.

Surely people like to roast chestnuts? Under the spreading chestnut tree!

Sadly these aren’t the roasting sort. Horse Chestnuts just look nice! Kids string them up & play a game with them that’s pretty much all they are useful for…..Oh plus keeping spiders away allegedly!

I love the look of chestnuts. So shiny and brown. Lovely to hold.
