Goosnargh Cakes by happypat

Goosnargh Cakes

Goosnargh pronounced Gooznar.
These are a particular delicacy of the village & I have only seen them sold locally & quite rare these days.
They are similar to shortbread but have caraway seeds in them.
The black bit you see there is one, not a bug.

These were made by Ruth Kirkham ..the original Mrs Kirkham of Farmhouse Cheese fame.
She lives in Goosnargh & is the best baker.
These were given to Cathy when she was there on a professional visit……lucky us!

There is an interesting website if you want to know more.
Just Google Mrs Kirklams Farmhouse Cheese
Oh they sound so good. Wonderful story too.

They look great. I’ve just tasked my daughter to find some for me when we next visit her in Lancashire

@tinley23 I’m sure she will have heard if them Lesley.
Mrs Kirkhams Farmhouse cheeses have a farm shop on site that sell their glorious unpasturised cheeses & Cumbrian meats etc etc.

These cookies look quite thick - not sure about the caraways - never liked them in 'seed cake'.
