The month of August can be very frustrating in the Paris region, as so many shops and restaurants close, or have limited opening hours. The summer holidays 'les grandes vacances' are so important and it is a very French tradition to take one's leave during, sometimes all of, August - even though it means closing down the business for the period. People who take their leave in August are known as 'aoûtiens'. Those who take leave in July are named 'juilletistes'. Anyway, I digress; one of the benefits of August in the Paris region is that you can play at some private golf courses, normally closed to the general public. This is what we did yesterday at the 'Golf de St Germain'. As you can see, we got a lovely day for it, and despite my poor golf, we really enjoyed it! This is husband and daughter on the green of the 9th hole, just in front of the clubhouse.
How fun! Glad you all had a wonderful time - it is beautiful! What a wonderful tradition - something wonderful when so many can close shop at they same time!
What a wonderful opportunity to play here Issi. But it does seem a little odd that business actually shut down for long periods of time during the summer season. But that's good to know if I ever make it back to France. :)
Adorable! What a beautiful spot. I love the idea of families taking a month off. Now that all of my children are grown I long for those lazy sweet days of summer with our kids. We cherish those memories.
