I went into Paris today to visit an exhibition at the newly reopened Musée Maillol. Pont Neuf was the first bridge I crossed after exiting the métro. After lunch in the 6th, I then went on to visit the Opéra Garnier - quite a revelation! I will post some more Paris shots over the next few days.
As I so often do after viewing your Paris photos, I googled the subject and enjoyed reading about the Pont Neuf. Interesting information about the stone masks which decorate the sides of the bridge. Is this one of those mascarons or a stand alone sculpture? Either way, fantastic shot! :-)
Oh, I just love your "tours of Paris" through pictures. The contrast of bold details against the monochrome sky is striking. Nice comp! Looking forward to more Paris photos.
@gaylewood Thank you! No, these are not the masks (they face out over the river, so are difficult to capture). This is the base of one of the lampposts!
