Well it's been an eventful 3 days. I went over to Scotland on Monday to see my dad and have meetings with our architect to discuss the extension to our house, which we are due to start early next year. I intended to come back to Paris on Friday and was hoping for some time with friends and some great photos as the weather was very cold and frosty.
However, last night, a phone call from my daughter put a halt to all that ... she has had an accident on her bike, down in Annecy. She was hit by a car and has a broken arm and a messed up face. Was she wearing her helmet? Eh well, no she wasn't. I think she has been lucky though. I jumped on the first flight back to Paris today and head off to Annecy first thing tomorrow to see her.
I'm so relieved she's ok, that phone call is such a heart-stopper as you know something is wrong, but you don't know what's coming. It could have been much worse, but I can't wait to see her, just to reassure myself.
So, no photos of Scotland. Just a photo of the plans for the extension which I took once I got back to Paris. Next stop Annecy.
So very glad to hear she is okay and thankfully you could get back to her quickly. I lost my oldest son to a car/bike accident when he was only thirteen.
Glad to hear your daughter was not seriously injured. Sorry that your Scotland trip was cut short. Good luck with the addition. We are remodeling a house and have been since May 2015. Who knows what the next delay will be.
Oh, my goodness! I'm so sorry about your daughter's accident...that's terrible. I'm glad she's okay and I'm sure she will feel relieved to have you there with her during this tough time.
Oh dear! Sending good thoughts to her and to you in traveling down there. It's so good that you can be there for her fairly quickly -- she must be a bit unnerved and scared. Hoping all goes well. And, this image is terrific -- great POV and depth of field. It will be fun to follow your renovations. I hope we can start on ours sometime this spring.
@dridsdale Oh Debra, I am SO sorry. That must be something you never, ever, get over. I cannot even begin to imagine. Right now I'm feeling very lucky.
@gaylewood@taffy@peterday@julzmaioro@aecasey@gijsje@salza@busylady@randystreat@milaniet Thanks for all your good wishes. On the train right now. Spoke with her last night, so she's doing ok, although still very much in shock I think. She's very concerned that she has two Skype interviews next week and feels that no one would employ her looking like a rugby player! Can't wait to see her though and get reassurance about the damage to her eye - which looks awful right now, but will hopefully improve as swelling goes down.
Oh no! So sorry to hear about your daughter having an accident! I hope she will be OK! Perhaps a bit of time with mum will help lift her spirits...and yours too!
@dridsdale My heart goes out to you Debra. Issi, you are indeed fortunate that your girls skirted that one. Though too late for a re-do, I think she and her friends have learned a biking lesson they'll not forget and pass on as "words to the wise" for the rest of their lives. On our flight home in September, we flew with a lady who had suffered the same accident while she was on a day trip from a cruise up in Cape Breton. She, too, had to have facial surgery before flying back to Dallas, and I'm sure she was terrified. All in all, you have much to be thankful for. I hope the brave wounds help to garner her her job of choice!
