I feel very let down and inadequate! I arrived in Scotland yesterday amidst a storm of sleet and snow and harboured great hopes of a fantastic sunrise this morning with lots of deep snow and maybe even a sighting of deer and pheasants. But most of the snow melted during the evening, and the remaining slush froze overnight. A skating rink! I set out at 7.30 am to walk down to the bridge, along by the river and the golf course, finishing by the farm and down the hill to our house. Because of the ice, it took me ages to walk my route. It is a beautiful morning, but I just didn't get any shots I liked. As I took this shot of the only deer I spotted (!), these cars rounded the corner, which I thought gave the scene a bit of atmosphere. So that's it for today, folks. Maybe when I head to Braemar later to visit my dad, I'll find something which pleases me more. Happy Sunday!
Hmmm....it's melting fast in places but I thnk there will still be ice overnight a bit east of Braemar!!! I'm in Oldmeldrum if you are ever over this way get in touch!!
@sarah19 Well hello there Oldmeldrum! I think you're the first 'local' person I've 'met' on 365! I'm just home for a few days in Ballater where we have our 'forever' home, visiting Braemar where my dad lives, and then going down to Edinburgh for the rugby this weekend. Maybe one day we will meet up! I'm following you now, so if I'm ever over your way, I'll give you a shout!
The fence catches my eye with its outline of snow which stands out against the dark trees. Sounds like a treacherous walk you had. I know your disappointment in not coming away with a picture you 'feel the love for'. lol about the deer in the picture. Good one.
Snow yes - ice no! That's miserable to mess with except shooting out the window. Hopefully you'll get rid of that refrozen ice quickly and get a new nice fluffy snow.
I saw this scene and just felt bone-chilling cold. You've created a strong sense of atmosphere here. It sounds like a rather challenging walk - I'm mostly impressed you didn't turn around and go home to a good cup of tea or cocoa!
I find it sooo frustrating when photos don't pan out the way we plan, been there done that! :)
