It's Mothers' Day in the UK, and here I am, on my own, with not a child in sight! Anyway, the weather is making up for it. Yesterday, after a full morning of emptying rooms and a trip to see my dad, I went out for a delightful walk in 19 degrees of sunshine! It was the most beautiful day, and highly unusual for Scotland in summer, never mind March! I came across this mum with her babes, and thought she would make the perfect image for today. Happy Mothers' Day !
@peterday It's funny isn't it? I grew up with the expression 'Mothers' Day'. I never knew anything else. But I do think that Mothering Sunday is a lovely expression and the origins you mention in your post are quite delightful. Sorry if I disappoint you! ;-)
How precious. What better example in nature than a mother hen to exemplify the devotion a mother gives her youngsters. It's a shame you were so far away from your children for the special day. (The framing and signage compliment the tones so nicely.)
