Maids of Honour by jamibann

Maids of Honour

I had the good fortune of being able to visit the Dovecot Gallery in Edinburgh on Saturday to see an exhibition of May Morris's tapestries and designs. This one is entitled 'Maids of Honour' and is embroidered on a fine silk mesh. It was designed and embroidered by May Morris around 1890. A truly lovely piece of work.
Very pretty!

Beautiful work. I like how it seems to be floating in air, the mesh is so fine and in a color very similar to the background.
