I am constantly amazed by people's innovation and creativity during these Covid times. The number of small firms who have had to reinvent themselves in order to stay in business is staggering, but so too is their ability to be flexible and change to tailor their business to fit the current model. This particular company, Wild Hearth Bakery, do the most fabulous French breads, vegan pains au raisin, croissants, hot cross buns etc. We are talking seriously GOOD. They are based in Comrie in Perthshire, and have created a Bread Co-operative where they link with one shop (all over the north east) - for us Ballater ... our local delicatessen. I order online, and pay in advance, and my goodies are delivered there, fortnightly. Today I received my order of bread, hot cross buns and pains au raisin. Most of the bread is already in my freezer and two buns have been scoffed already. Pains au raisin are on the menu for breakfast tomorrow. What a treat, and what a clever way to promote the bakery's products outwith their own local market. Smart ideas in tough times.
Thank you to everyone who commented on yesterday's photo. We are working through our difficult time. Dad may have lost a lot of his faculties, but he is still our stalwart star.
They look delicious.. good to see business being proactive and getting on with it. We have a fguit and veg shop that sell danish pastries raw and frozen.. they are a great treat hor the freezer..
Was bracing myself for this post in case it made me cry - glad itโs mostly about lovely bakery goodies. And I agree - people are working their arses off - our local cafe expanded its bakery and delivery service and have been a godsend.
Folks here are managing but a lot went under as well. Our lawmakers are completely out of touch with small business. I wish the best for your bakery- looks like they will succeed on talent and business savvy! I sure wish I could taste this!
I hope your father will enjoy them too.
