It's my birthday today, and amongst other things I received this beautiful Bonsai Acer. I just love it, and thought it looked fabulous in my kitchen. However, my friend tells me it should be outside. Hmm. I'm afraid it will get lost out there. Anyone got any experience of these little trees?
Happy birthday, bonnie lass! Hope you are having a fabulous day. I have never seen a bonsai acer outdoors, only indoors where there is plenty of light. Worth a google methinks!
Oh what a great gift. All I know about bonsai trees is that you have to trim the roots. Not sure I'd want to put it outside. As Casa says - Google! Happy Birthday! 🎂🥳🎉
What a beautiful tree. I agree with Casablanca about checking on Google. I know someone who has a few Bonsai trees which do live outside but they are well sheltered from major weather issues.
Happy birthday Issi! A wonderful present for your birthday…what an original idea! Sadly I think you’re right about living outside or at least where it’s the coldest part of the house.perhaps keep it in for a day or two then outside. When I was a steward in the Horticulture marquee at our local agriculture show we used to have a section of Bonsai trees, there were some amazing examples & once we had three stolen overnight! They are quite expensive! It dies look lovely on your table.
@kwind He he ... a good day and a good month. It was my son's 26th birthday yesterday, and I see it was yours quite recently too! I always joke that I got my son for my birthday and my daughter for Christmas. Two of the best gifts ever! :-)
Happy Birthday. This is a delightful gift. I suppose outside may be ok in some parts of the country but in rural Aberdeenshire I'm not so sure!! Enjoy it anyway.
Happy Birthday Issi!! I hope the day was as lovely as your little tree- which does look delightful on your table. I was curious so here's what I found and there's a lot out there!!
@olivetreeann Thank you! I've done some research using those links and another one or two, and it does seem I need to keep this fellow outside, but because of the Scottish climate, I think it'll be in our greenhouse in winter. I hope I don't kill it, or my friend won't be impressed!!!
What a beautiful gift.
