I'm really looking forward to seeing this fellow develop into a full grown pepper. Our chillis have been smitten by aphids though ... despite many leaf 'washes' with soapy water. I think that crop will be very limited, as the flowers are not looking too healthy. I just need to keep the little blighters off our pepper plants!
So much more interesting to grow your own than go to a shop……will watch with interest on the progress!
Oh I just realised reading Judith’s post above that the green bit in the middle is the pepper growing!
Time to introduce some ladybugs (ladybirds to some) in your garden! They feed on aphids and harm nothing else. It is really fun to watch the "fruit" a flower produces like this pepper.
What a pretty flower.
About the aphids....I saw a feature on Gardener's World last night where a young couple had ordered and received a pack of ladybirds by post. They do a good job of clearing aphids. Haven't seen so many in our garden this year. I think the late severe frost may have affected the young ones.
@sarah19 So funny, as our son was telling me about the online ordering of ladybirds, just the other day. I tend to agree with you about the local varieties though, plus I'd worry about the unnatural aspect of this. Fascinating thought though, and I need to learn more about it. I think it's 'tatties', as we say up here, for my chillis though.Too late - I'll be a bit more vigilant next year - we never had any bother last year.

I wonder about local varieties though 🤔
