This little bunch of cherry tomatoes is giving its all. There are practically no leaves left on the plant and the stems are all but dried up and dead, but the fruit hangs on in there and is ripening nicely. The bottom two are gone now ... very sweet and tasty. :-)
Fact of the day ... I googled 'is tomato a fruit?' before I used the word 'fruit' above, to find that it is botanically defined as a fruit because they form a flower and contain seeds.
However, ... they've earned the reputation of being a vegetable, even though they're technically a fruit by scientific standards.
Even more interesting, (I thought), in 1893 during a legal dispute with a tomato importer who argued his tomatoes should be considered fruits to avoid the higher vegetable tariff, the US Supreme Court ruled that the tomato would be classified as a vegetable on the basis of its culinary applications instead of its botanical categorisation!
The rest, as they say, is history. Fruit or Vegetable?!
They look promising! Nothing like home grown tomatoes! My dad used to grow them in his greenhouse but we always ended with far too many for us. Dad would be giving them away to everyone.
I have just brought all my 'little green tomatoes' indoors today (as the storm blew my garden umbrella down onto the last plants).......but they were all but dried oout and falling over anyway!
I always thought fruit but your info begs it might be different but officially still a fruit I think.
Love the DOF here, your lovely tomatoes are very tempting…nothing like a homegrown one warm from the sun. I shall have some on our south facing decking next year.
Beautiful composition and tones. Cataloging nature is like tidying up a wardrobe. There will always be a few things that you don't know which drawer to put in.

And fascinating history.
Our next door neighbour surprised us with some of his home grown tomatoes this morning.
