I had great amusement on Friday watching a flock of redwing come into our garden and completely decimate the rowan tree. Every berry was gone! A lot dropped on the ground, right enough, but not one berry left on the tree. Hard to imagine when you see how many there are in this photo!
You caught the Redwing with the berry in its mouth…..made a lovely capture even more special. Our cotoneaster…well next doors still has all the red berries on it….I’m sure rowan berries are much more tasty!
@terryliv No? Otherwise known as Mountain Ash. They're a native tree in much of Europe. They used to be planted at the entrances to houses in Scotland to keep the witches out!
Wonderful colours! I'm guessing friends of your birds have been here recently as not a berry in sight on our rowan tree .... we've been away a lot so hadn't noticed the change until now!
